The Opportunity
This role will work closely with the global brand team, regional brand managers, cross functional marketing specialists, and product managers to enhance Afterpay’s brand visibility and market share. The ideal candidate will balance creative, analytical, and strategic thinking. Conduct analysis and market research to understand customer behavior, then use that information to develop global marketing strategies that raise brand awareness, drive customer growth, improve Afterpay’s brand positioning, and generate revenue. This role will work on a portfolio of products and marketing initiatives that play meaningful roles in people’s lives and are seeking to contribute even more greatly to their financial wellness.

Architect a scaling and purpose-led brand portfolio:
Drive understanding of the fin-tech space and specifically BNPL, including understanding of culture, consumer, category, company, and communications landscape
Determine cultural and consumer truths
Develop brand stories with the global brand team
Combine analytical and creative elements, using specific data to devise a short- or long-term strategy to position the brand and build market share.
Deliver ideas and concepts that set Afterpay apart from competitors, creating a strong position for market growth and recognition across various media channels.
Define the areas of impact that the brand can take action and create value against in authentic ways
Activate our products and merchants through brand-led consumer journeys
Understand the consumer journey, including key moments and relationship needs and satisfiers, entry and exit points
Develop the go-to-market ecosystem on global initiatives, including advertising, content, social, CRM, activations and media in partnership with regional teams
Design the ideal consumer experience with partnership with cross-functional marketing team
Partner with product, retail and regional teams and making strategic recommendations to inform technology and marketing decisions
Inspiring compelling creative in partnership with our Creative teams
Develop and evolve the global brand campaign
Produce imaginative insights that fuel ideas, including designing and conducting and reviewing research and analysis as helpful
Craft creative briefs that stimulate Creative teams as well as partner with Creative to ensure work is on strategy and meets client objectives
Act as a trusted strategic advisor to regional teams, proactively identifying the key problems to be solved, key opportunities to be captured, and key goals to be delivered on
Ensuring strategies are delivering on marketing goals and providing input into measurement and optimization, in partnership with our growth and regional teams
Storytelling in ways that make the complex simple and the simple compelling
Working with Regional Strategy teams across all regions — AU, NZ, NA, and EMEA — to ensure strong integration of the brand platform and coordinated deployment
Partnering with other Strategists on the business
Lead the global strategic governance best practice and capabilities sharing across regional and local markets

An experienced integrated Strategy leader, with brand planning + digital strategy expertise
Experience with purpose-driven brands and consumers
Work in the financial space preferred
Retailer experience preferred
Global / international brand experience preferred
Understanding of and ability to work with brand strategy, content strategy, social strategy, experience strategy
Omnichannel ecosystem development experience across paid, owned, earned and ability to work with Media partners
Talent and experience working with Creative partners
Ability to work with Technology partners and knowledge of mar-tech
Understanding of performance and ability to work with Data & Analytics
Resourcefulness at identifying and conducting research (primary + secondary; qualitative + quantitative) and analysis
10+ years directly-related experience
Exceptional communication skills — on the page and in presentation
Curiosity, passion, collaborative spirit, optimism to find the answer, work ethic to deliver
