About the Role

The Athletic is looking to add B2C performance marketers in order to drive and scale our multi-channel paid acquisition initiatives. You will be responsible for driving subscriptions at an acceptable CAC and LTV. The position requires the ability to continuously test and learn to help grow and scale the business. In order to hit aggressive metrics, you will have access to budgets for both testing and scaling, multiple agency partners to aid in execution and analysis, and an internal team of top-notch creatives, developers, and designers.

A strong understanding of subscription based models and experience in growing and converting subscribers for mobile apps would be advantageous for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize internal and external data in order to drive marketing strategy to achieve customer acquisition, conversion, and LTV targets
  • Develop and manage spend goals across multiple channels including paid social, search and other emerging channels like influencer, podcasts, etc.
  • Work cross-functionally with leaders on product, engineering, design and analytics to unlock new growth opportunities
  • Scale and improve spend efficiency across channels
  • Provide forecasting updates and recommendations on how ad dollars should be deployed
  • Foster strong relationships with paid media agencies and technology partners

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of successfully managing large paid acquisition budgets for a popular and scaling B2C product. Mobile products and subscription products experience preferred.
  • Experience developing a performance marketing strategy and overseeing a multi-channel approach at the local and national levels
  • Strong understanding of current paid media channels and industry trends
  • Extremely analytical - you will need to speak to decisions and learnings with data
  • Experience building test-and-learn plans
  • Understanding of the subscription revenue model in the digital media space
  • Role will be based in San Francisco headquarters
