Senior Channel Strategist (Email, Push)
ABOUT THE ROLE:
You'll be an integral part of Udemy’s Personalization, Pricing, and Promotions team, helping drive a critical function of the marketing organization. You will develop a deep understanding of Udemy students, their needs and goals, and how this differs globally. You will use past learnings, insights, and research to recommend contact strategies through Udemy’s owned channels (particularly email and push). You will drive the establishment of email channel best practices and iterative testing to improve performance, creating playbooks for different types of communications, goals, customer segments, etc. Through data-driven insights and analytical rigor, you will track important channel metrics, optimizing strategies to improve customer engagement and LTV for Udemy’s students. Your work will have a direct contribution to the team’s pursuit of improving the customer journey and impacting long-term value for students.
ABOUT YOU:
You are a creative, analytical marketer, capable of working cross-functionally with both technical and creative teams. You are comfortable with email technology, quantitative metrics and goals, and are motivated to stay abreast of industry news and advancements. You are laser-focused on the customer and delivering positive experiences that align with Udemy’s goals and mission. You are fluent in email channel best practices as well as technology that supports the channels. You like to do research, using external and internal sources to drive big-picture plans. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with a bias for action and thrive in working in fast-paced environments handling multiple shifting priorities.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Develop a deep understanding of Udemy customers’ behavior and segmentation, and how it varies in different markets
- Complete research on email/push best practices for different countries (frequency, timing, tone, etc.) to make informed recommendations
- Design experiments for email testing: subject lines, creative, frequency, customer segmentation, etc.. Work with the Promotions Lead to understand the promotions calendar and align on opportunities to test channel strategies
- Develop high impact email campaigns and programs, partnering with business leads to support overarching revenue and retention goals
- Help define key metrics of email campaign performance, from measurement of email KPIs and trends, to assessing the broader business impact
- Develop a playbook with the creative and production team for experiences across different touchpoints channels.
- Partner with Lifecycle/Personalization leads to ensure consistency in the customer experience (messaging, creative, outreach, etc.)
We’re excited about you because you have:
- Bachelors degree
- 7+ years experience in consumer marketing strategy, at least two years working in email strategy. Familiarity with lifecycle communications a strong plus
- Cross-functional collaboration skills are essential
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with colleagues at all levels; demonstrated ability to influence others
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills. Ability to design and launch tests, and use data to develop and measure marketing programs
- Ability to create dashboards (or partner with Data Science to create) that track important channel metrics; stay on top of all key delivery, performance, and customer experience metrics
- Strong attention to detail, organized, and efficient with the ability to rise to the occasion under tight timelines and pressure
- Experience designing programs for global audiences with nuanced needs
- Strong business acumen and creative problem-solving skills to anticipate, troubleshoot, and find effective solutions
- Comfortable driving results and growth in-line with company objectives and goals
