We are looking for a motivated and passionate research leader to join our diverse team in San Francisco to establish an inhouse research function. You will be working across design, product and marketing teams to represent the voice of our customers and offer strategic insights. It will be designing and running national and international research programs using a wide range of methods of your choice. This role is directly reporting to and collaborating closely with the Chief Design Officer.

What You’ll Do

  • Work cross-functionally with product, design, marketing, and business to identify research needs and priorities
  • Design research plans combining state of the art methods to uncover meaningful insights
  • Hands-on execution of research projects with minimal outsourcing to 3rd party vendors
  • Run research programs on budget and time from large and extensive to small and nimble
  • Flexibility to tailor approach to deliver insights within at times shorter timeframes
  • Work and combine Comfortable to work seamlessly across hardware, digital and service offerings
  • Support marketing team with understanding new markets and how to position and talk about our offering
  • Support product and design team to uncover opportunity spaces and implied strategies
  • Supporting UX and ID team to gain ongoing feedback on design concepts
  • Manage and prioritize research projects across a wide array of research needs i.e. ethnographies, segmentations, user testing, etc.
  • Represent the voice of customer and inspire across the company with user insights
  • Cultivate user centeredness across the organization

What You’ll Bring

  • Min of 10 years of relevant experience in a professional environment, preferably in a technology company or research consulting firm
  • Well versed in taking an empathetic, human-centered approach to research and interpretation thereof
  • Knowledgeable in a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Instinct for minimum research methods to cut back from the ideal best practices if needed
  • Strong at analysis to derive findings and synthesis / interpretation towards relevant insights
  • Strong and inspiring storytelling, data visualization, and presentation skills
  • Experience in international research
  • Comfortable working with B-to-C and B-to-B customers and prospective customers
  • Self driven and organized with attention to detail
  • Experienced in people management and training on design research best practices
  • Experienced directing outside vendors
