The Opportunity
As a Governance, Risk and Compliance manager at Afterpay, you'll develop and manage the ongoing enhancement of the company’s risk management policy.
A successful candidate for this role will be a strong communicator who excels at explaining risk management framework to audiences inside and outside of the risk org. Risk mindset, creativity and strategic thinking are key qualifications, as this role will work with business and technical partners in building and maintaining a scalable and sustainable risk management framework. The ability to build influence and educate teams across the company on the importance of risk management framework will be an essential driver for success. This role will work with the business at all organizational layers, so it will be important to demonstrate flexibility in approach, communication style and depth of understanding.

● Conduct periodic review and gap analysis of existing risk management and control policy and implement remediations for improvement
● Build risk assessment process with properly designed KPIs and thresholds and coordinate the assessment across business units
● Manage the ongoing monitoring of key risk metrics and facilitate the regular reporting to risk committee
● Advise process/control owners with the preparation and on-going maintenance of controls and control documentation (e.g., policies, procedures, narratives, and matrices)
● Proactively identify gaps or conflicts in existing processes and work to develop solutions with internal business partners
● Build strong relationships with business partners and facilitate continuous improvement aligned with operational processes

● 5+ years of experience in risk management, audit, risk assurance, compliance, or similar areas
● Detailed working knowledge and prior experience in building and maintaining risk management framework
● Experience working with industry regulators and accreditation bodies
● Working knowledge of general analytical tools, e.g. SQL and Tableau
● Knowledge of, or experience working with tech, fintech or financial service companies is a plus
● Prior experience in Model Risk Management (SR11-7) is a plus
● Ability to operate autonomously and lead meetings and projects with minimal guidance
● Analytical thinker, highly organized, detail-oriented, ability to multi-task
● A proactive goal achiever who innovates to go above and beyond expectations to get the job done and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment incorporating constant change as we grow
