Position Overview

 Corsair is seeking a top-tier candidate for its Manager, Transportation & Trade position.  The role offers deep international exposure in transportation sourcing, service provider performance management and import & export trade compliance.  Reporting to the Director, Worldwide Logistics, the candidate will help shape Corsair’s transportation and trade compliance strategy and lead execution of global freight operations for inbound, outbound, intercompany shipment activity while mitigating trade risk.  Key focus areas include:

·     Transportation execution – air, ocean, truck (LTL/FTL) and small package

·     Logistics service provider (LSP) sourcing and performance management

·     Freight bill audit & payment (FBAP)

·     Import trade strategy & risk mitigation

·     Export policy & controls

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience managing US domestic and international shipments across all modes of transportation from the shipper’s perspective.  Sharp technical knowledge of export and import freight operations with a close pulse on trade regulations applicable within the Asia-Pacific (APAC), Americas (AMR) and Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) regions are essential.  Building internal and external relationships, motivating LSPs, managing expectations and negotiating favorable costs and terms & conditions for carriage will be vital for success.      

Position Summary, Responsibilities and Expectations

Transportation

·     Support and manage the procurement process of transportation services (RFQ and RFP level) – US domestic and international air, ocean, trucking (LTL/FTL) and small package freight services

·     Drive logistics service provider (LSP) performance management process (e.g., metrics-scorecard, logistics operational forums and quarterly/annual business reviews)

·     Build and monitor freight forecasts based on order volume (inbound, outbound, intercompany) and share with LSPs to ensure service coverage

·     Maintain close attention to transportation market dynamics for all modes and keep stakeholders apprised of conditions, delivery impacts and contingencies

·     Formulate and execute contingency strategies for adverse market conditions especially during peak season

·     Develop logistics dashboard using in-house business intelligence tools (Power BI), and collaborate with key internal functions to analyze actual vs forecasted transportation and trade compliance spend

·     Manage logistics-IT enhancement programs to automate and simplify operations

·     Support the procurement and implementation of a third-party freight bill audit & payment (FBAP) solution and oversee the program post Go Live

·     Drive development of logistics & trade process documentation and educate/train partnering functions and external service providers

·     Resolve shipment issue-escalations and assist internal functions in the arrangement of carriage for adhoc and/or urgent shipments

Trade Compliance

·     Manage export and import (EXIM) product classification process – World’s Customs Organization (WCO) Harmonized System (HS) codes and US export control classifications numbers (ECCN)

·     Administer Corsair’s parts dictionary of pertinent trade compliance information – HS, Schedule B, ECCN, Country of Origin (COO), Royalty, License Fees, etc.

·     Guide and support logistics operations in the preparation of EXIM trade documentation (i.e., commercial invoice, packing list, product technical information)

·     Manage US duty drawback program and maintain regular reporting cadence

·     Investigate trade violations or risk areas to include exposure analysis, remediation planning and development of mitigation controls

·     Monitor changes to US/foreign import and export regulations that may impact business operations

·     Assess regulatory requirements for new market entry – accreditations, operating licenses, POAs, etc.

·     Support the development of a US Export Control Policy and corporate training program

·     Procure and implement an export control denied party screening solution

Other

·       Ensure compliance with Corsair Code of Ethics & Business Conduct Guidelines, Purchasing Policies & Procedures, and legal & ethical business practices as well as operating procedures

·     10+ years’ experience in logistics (transportation and distribution) and trade compliance managing operations from the shipper perspective supporting B2B and B2C customer markets

·       BS/MBA in logistics or supply chain management; equivalent experience may be substituted for degree requirements

·       Working knowledge of pricing structures for core transportation modes: air, ocean, truck (LTL/FTL) and small package

·       Direct experience managing a 3rd party freight payables program

·       Savvy with developing business cases and translating data into concise actionable recommendations

·       Sharp knowledge of US domestic and international (incoterms) terms of sale

·       Dangerous goods (DG) management expertise (Class 9 – lithium-ion emphasis) – IATA, 49CFR and IMDG certification preferred

·       Mid-level experience with import (WCO HS) and export (US ECCN) product classification, customs rulings (US/EU), duty minimization and import valuation

·       Familiar with US trade regulations for import (US CBP) and export administration regulations (EAR - US Department of Commerce, US Bureau of Industry & Security “BIS” and US Census Bureau)

·       Familiar with US CBP and BIS tools – ACE, PMI, AES, SNAP-R, etc.

·       Licensed Customs Broker designation preferred

·       Data-driven and proficient managing multiple data sources with authority using MS Excel and business intelligence tools (e.g., MS Power BI)

·       Influential communicator (email/verbal/presentation) with high confidence showcasing work output and cases/ideas via MS PowerPoint

·       Key attributes for success include team player, autonomous, problem-solving, anticipation fast-leaner, sharp communicator, reliable and responsive

·       Ability to travel approximately 20-25% (US/International)

·       People manager – will have 1-2 direct reports
