Risk Manager (Business Cards & Payments)
Capital One is looking for a strategy minded Risk Manager who will define and implement new risk management interactions across the International, Business Cards & Payments division. This person will function as Risk Manager to help influence and drive high visibility and critical risk management standardization efforts across lines of business such as risk management routines, risk inventories, executive committee engagement, and 1st line of defense methodologies. Capital One is looking for an individual who will play a critical role in defining and coordinating these efforts across 1st and 2nd line risk governance structures and be responsible for reporting to senior management. Finally, this individual needs to support the continuation of these efforts and ensure sustainable well managed delivery is in place.
Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Define and ground areas of opportunity ripe for risk management standardization across the International, Business Cards & Payments division
  • Develop logical and insightful frameworks and structures to solve challenging problems across the division
  • Communicate insights in a compelling manner to influence senior business leaders across the division and within the risk organization
  • Work as integral members of a small program team, taking on division-defining strategic issues and directly advising senior executives and risk leadership
  • Construct storylines and presentations to socialize strategies and build consensus for transformational change
  • Coordinating, influencing and negotiating priorities with teams to ensure well managed goals/timelines are met; escalating when appropriate
  • Driving prioritization and understanding/articulating appropriate trade-offs
  • Establishing strong interaction models and relationships to collaborate and consult with key stakeholders
  • Collecting data and information, and using analytics and reporting to develop risk transparency to senior leadership and executives across the division
  • Developing and maintaining formal process documentation including procedures, playbooks, and process flow diagrams that demonstrate the well managed infrastructure

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in Risk Management or Strategy Development
  • At least 2 years of experience in Process Management
  • At least 2 years of experience in Project Management
  • At least 2 years of experience in Relationship Management


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in risk management or strategy development
  • Process Management (LEAN, Six Sigma), Compliance (CRCM, CIPP), Business Process Management certifications.
  • MBA or Master's degree
  • 3+ years of regulatory compliance or Audit experience
  • 3+ years of Corporate Management Consulting experience
  • 3+ years of Financial Services industry experience
  • 3+ years of experience in performing risk and control assessments, control testing, or assessments against industry risk frameworks

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Location is New York City: $147,800 - $168,700 for Risk Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
