San Francisco, CA | Retail Team | Reports to the Head of Global Retail Operations

Where do we need help?
We’ve sold a million shoes, launched three groundbreaking materials, and changed how people think about comfort, design, and retail. Now we’re taking the Allbirds in-store experience across the country and are looking for seasoned and impactful Area Leaders to execute on that mission. 

Who are we looking for? 
The West Coast Area Leader is responsible for leadership and day to day execution for all our West Coast stores. You will ensure that stores are delivering on business goals and teams are operating at high standards that are reflective of our mission and values. Above all, you will be a champion for your stores - motivating your flock, developing talent, and driving engagement throughout the field.

What does the job entail? 
Delivering and executing on four primary focus areas: Area Performance, People Management, Operational Excellence, and Customer Experience.

  • Performance 
    • Create a profitable area where all sales, NPS, people and financial targets are met.
    • setting clear
    • Clearly communicate expectations for performance standards to all team members.
    • Deliver positive sales, traffic and profit results for both existing and new stores.
    • Deliver against established customer feedback metrics.
    • Attain employee training, development and turnover targets.
    • Ensure brand initiatives are implemented and perform to set targets.
  • People
    • Embody the servant leadership style by focusing on the needs of the store teams, helping them achieve their business goals, and fostering a sense of community across the broader retail community. 
    • Be the hiring manager on Store Leader recruitments and assist in interviewing and hiring the in-store leadership teams in your area.
    • Help build store opening teams with an emphasis on recruiting, onboarding and training new-store teams.
    • Develop your people through coaching, regular check ins, performance reviews, succession planning, and facilitating internal promotions and mobility.
    • Work with Store Leaders and HQ Talent Partners to effectively and efficiently resolve ER issues.
    • Lead and inspire a rich culture of execution, training, development and high-performance
  • Operations
    • Prioritize problem-solving and continuously look for ways to improve the in-store experience of our retail teams.
    • Ensure that SOPs, VM directives, facilities standards, and all other procedures and policies are being upheld and executed consistently across stores.
    • Identify gaps in operating procedures and work with HQ to close them. 
    • Understand all relevant store-level and regional KPIs and have a strong grasp of trends and outliers.
    • Oversee new-store operations from construction through opening.
  • Customers
    • Swiftly resolve escalated customer issues.
    • Execute marketing and traffic-driving events for the stores, partnering with our Retail Marketing team.
    • Ensure a positive store culture and work environment for our retail teams so they can deliver exceptional in-store experiences to our customers.

Where do we need help?

  • Experienced retail leader, ideally in fashion or footwear
  • Strong connection to Allbirds's mission, vision, and products
  • Curious, intentional, and low-ego, with an eye for simplifying complicated situations and processes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen
  • Ability to manage and direct work on complex projects and issues spanning a broad geographic region
  • Tech-savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office / G-Suite
  • Willing to be on the road at least 2 weeks per month
