Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively prospect and identify potential new business opportunities within specified life science customer account(s) 
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of how to leverage internal cross-functional teams to successfully close deals
  • Establish and cultivate strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers 
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the customer organization and serve as the primary point of contact and maintain high visiibility across the account
  • Develop and maintain in-depth understanding of Verana’s key offerings and capabilities to identify evidence gaps and determine how to best prioritize and position Verana offerings across different customer segments and stakeholders
  • Act as primary owner of client research needs including early engagement discussions, development of budgets and proposals for new opportunities, facilitating ongoing client discussions, and coordinating with with internal cross-functional team to ensure awarded contract
  • Own, create and deliver customer presentations, collateral, and proposals
  • Adapt successful strategies and tactics to meet dynamic market demands and financial targets
  • Establish and execute a comprehensive account plan for aligned accounts and monitor activity against plans on a quarterly basis to ensure appropriate strategy is proposed to customer
  • Record all customer sales related activities in CRM system and ensure active updates are provided to sales management as required 

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum 3+ years experience in business development in the biotechnology / pharmaceutical, and/or healthcare industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, with advanced degree (MBA, MS, MPH, and/or PhD) desirable
  • Additional experience in RWE, project management, business development, and/or life science focused strategy consulting preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including strong oral and written communication skills and ability to be proactive and work independently and as a team player
  • Strong understanding of the RWE landscape and its value across the product development lifecycle 
  • High-level of business acumen, awareness, and understanding of industry trends and impact on the business
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to successfully lead, manage, and prioritize multiple opportunities of varying complexity
  • Adaptability and flexibility to changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work creatively and successfully in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to confidently interact with senior management and executives both internally and externally
  • Team player willing to undertake any appropriate task to help Verana build value
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: MS PowerPoint, MS Word, and Excel
  • Open and flexible to working environment with the ability to work from Bay Area office or home office (e.g., East Coast, West Coast,) remotely (subject to what business interactions may demand) 

Bonus Experience (optional) 

  • Additional experience in RWE, project management, business development, and/or life science focused strategy consulting preferred
  • Public health, industry, life sciences background and experience
