Whether you’re watching the delivery of your grocery order on Instacart, looking at a gym on ClassPass, sending snaps on Snap, tracking your personal best on Strava, monitoring your gas budget on Metromile, or checking today’s forecast on The Weather Channel, Mapbox is the location and maps within those apps. We’re changing how people move by live-mapping the world. We are the developer platform for location.

What We Do

Our business development strategy is to launch new geographic markets, industries, and significant customers requiring new investments in product or alternative business models. Business Development works in close coordination with other business-related functions, including Technical Account Management, Marketing, and Sales, as well as each product team. Our BD team members are product-focused and customer-obsessed, developing opportunities to rapidly and sustainably scale our business into new markets and industries.

What You'll Do

  • Build early relationships with leading companies globally to demonstrate the value of the Mapbox platform
  • Help develop a product expansion plan for improving Mapbox's data coverage and quality in key regions to meet local needs
  • Nurture, close, and manage key relationships with data vendors and sales channel partners
  • Open new industry verticals through research, customer discovery, and partnership development
  • Manage executive relationships with key partners, customers, and investors
  • Develop new product concepts to meet customer needs in key industries and markets

What we believe are important traits for this role

  • 10+ years of experience in business development, partnership, or consulting
  • 3+ years of experience working on global partnerships
  • Track record of negotiating complex deals involving a technical product, demonstrating an understand of the value of data
  • Highly analytical with strong complex problem solving skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity collaborating with and presenting to senior executives
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams (Business Development, Legal, Finance, Accounting, etc.)
  • Ability to multi-task and deal with pressure in an unstructured environment; ability to work through uncertainty
  • Be passionate about the details, do what it takes with speed, resourcefulness, and a positive, go-getter attitude regardless of the tasks at hand
  • Bachelor’s degree with a demonstrated strong academic performance
