About the Team:

The Search & SEO team at Quizlet is at the forefront of understanding content discovery across the platform and beyond. We work across product, data science, and engineering to find scalable solutions that drive growth for Quizlet, while helping students learn. We work cross-functionally with other teams across the organization to optimize their surfaces for search and aim to help other teams understand the ins and outs of search. 

About the Role:

We're looking for a Sr. Fullstack Engineer to help us improve our learning experiences. This will include making constant improvements to our current platform, which is built upon modern tools like React, NextJS, Hacklang, and Spanner. 

This is a hybrid role based out of our Denver, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, or San Francisco office.

In this role, you will:

• Design, build, and maintain all data pipelines, working with various relational databases, and APIs of our search services
• Work with product managers, machine learning engineers, data analysts and technical leads to define new search services
• Consult on backend search DSL's which make search query development easier for all other engineers
• Strengthen and maintain our existing ES infrastructure

What you bring to the table:

• 2+ years working with Elasticsearch, Solr, or similar search services
• 5+ years in the industry as a full stack or backend engineer
• Experience leading projects from inception to completion
• Excitement about the impact your work could have on the lives of students and teachers every day
• Ability to mentor junior engineers
• An aptitude for experimentation demonstrated by being hypothesis-driven, metrics-focused, and eager to test and iterate

Bonus points if you have:

• Experience with PHP or Go
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform

Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a starting base salary of $125,000 - $185,000, depending on location and experience, as well as company stock options
