DoorDash announced its acquisition of London-based Deliveroo in a merger valued at £2.9 billion, or roughly $3.9 billion. The move is expected to help the companies drive innovation and build a leading solution for local commerce. Once the two have joined, the new entity will leverage DoorDash’s operating playbook and Deliveroo’s local expertise.

Deliveroo is a commerce platform that partners with approximately 176,000 local businesses in the restaurant and grocery spaces to provide food delivery services for over 7 million consumers each month. Incorporating its platform with DoorDash’s reach, the combined entity will have a presence spanning 40 countries, with approximately 50 million monthly active users.

“We are now at the beginning of a transformative new chapter. DoorDash and Deliveroo are like-minded organizations with a shared strategic vision and aligned values. Together, we will be even better positioned to serve consumers, merchants, riders and local communities. The enlarged group will have the scale to invest in product, technology and the overall consumer value proposition,” Will Shu, Deliveroo CEO and co-founder, said in a statement.

The deal will close in the last quarter of 2025. DoorDash’s investment in Deliveroo will allow the latter to advance its strategic and operational progress, strengthen its competitive advantage and bolster innovation as it enhances its platform.
