Vitalize, an AI-powered labor optimization platform for the healthcare industry, announced the addition of Skippy to its infrastructure monitoring toolset. Skippy is an AI agent that will monitor Vitalize’s infrastructure, investigate issues and safely automate certain fixes. Its founder, Sid Premkumar, will lead Vitalize’s platform team.

Skippy will no longer be developed as a general-purpose product following its incorporation into Vitalize. The agent will work solely to help Vitalize build and operate a reliable infrastructure for the health systems it serves. Following the inclusion, Vitalize will work to gradually expand Skippy’s investigation and recommendation autonomy, beginning with low-risk remediations. It will also serve as a foundation for future AI engineering agents and continually improve based on the context, decisions and feedback it gets from incidents.

“There’s a fundamental challenge in scaling software infrastructure: as systems grow more complex, the work required to operate them grows too. More services to monitor, more alerts to investigate, more incidents to diagnose. Traditionally, companies have addressed this by growing their infrastructure teams and investing in increasingly sophisticated monitoring tools,” Vitalize CTO Mark Kinsella wrote in a company blog post. “AI gives us another approach. Instead of simply telling engineers when something goes wrong, agents can investigate issues, understand their context and increasingly take action themselves. This allows engineers to spend less time on repetitive operational work and more time improving the systems themselves.”
