The Firmware Manager will lead the embedded software team, focusing on firmware development for power systems, managing projects and engineers, and ensuring high-quality execution across multiple product lines.

Design and implement digital control algorithms for advanced AC-DC and DC-DC power converters used in solid-state transformer systems. Develop converter models, perform stability and transient analysis, implement real-time embedded controls, and lead simulation, firmware integration, hardware bring-up, laboratory debugging, and validation. Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and systems engineers to optimize sensing, protection, control-loop performance, and complex control subsystems.

Develop and manage comprehensive technical documentation for complex power infrastructure products, including installation, commissioning, operations, service, safety, and troubleshooting materials. Translate engineering concepts into clear customer content, establish documentation standards, manage publication projects, and administer an online document portal. Coordinate with engineering, product, IT, sales, deployment, and service teams, while supporting localization and occasional site visits.

Leads manufacturing test and product validation for high-voltage Solid State Transformer hardware and firmware. Manages test engineers, test architecture, test system design and deployment, lab operations, uptime, calibration, safety, capacity, test coverage, cycle time, and production scalability. Partners with electrical, mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, quality, reliability, and program management teams to investigate failures, improve products, and establish reliable automated testing across prototype, pre-production, and volume production.

Lead end-to-end recruiting for executive, VP-level, principal, and staff engineering roles. Partner with the CEO, founders, and senior leaders on search strategy, candidate calibration, interview design, market insight, and role definition. Build relationships with senior and passive candidates, deliver a high-touch candidate experience, and close complex offers involving equity, competing offers, relocation, timing, and family considerations. Operate discreetly and effectively in a high-growth, early-stage technical environment.

Provides onsite helpdesk and desktop support across Sunnyvale and San Francisco locations. Responsibilities include troubleshooting Windows and macOS devices, Microsoft 365 applications, accounts, connectivity, conference room technology, and peripherals; managing Intune and Jamf enrollment; provisioning and deprovisioning users; tracking tickets, assets, and licenses; and supporting onboarding, offboarding, and IT process improvements.

Own the roadmap and delivery of medium-voltage inverter and solid-state transformer platforms for data centers. Define product strategy, customer value propositions, technical requirements, and release plans while coordinating engineering, firmware, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and applications teams. Engage hyperscalers and infrastructure partners, develop ROI models, ensure reliability and regulatory compliance, benchmark competitors, and guide battery, EMS, grid, and storage integrations.

Leads product compliance for medium-voltage power infrastructure, interpreting global safety and grid-interconnection standards, engaging NRTLs, planning and witnessing certification testing, managing compliance documentation, and guiding hardware, firmware, product, and safety teams. Develops global certification strategies for CE, UL, and UKCA while tracking evolving standards and resolving test failures.

Own the complete thermal system for medium-voltage solid-state power conversion products, from architecture and modeling through CAD, CFD, prototyping, validation, manufacturing, and production. Lead concept selection, thermal routing, DFM/DFA, testing, troubleshooting, and technical direction for junior engineers. Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, quality, supplier, and factory teams to solve novel thermal engineering challenges.

Leads reliability engineering from R&D through mass production for power conversion systems. Defines reliability strategy, builds and mentors teams, establishes a reliability laboratory, develops test protocols, conducts DFMEA and fault-tree analysis, leads failure investigations and corrective actions, and integrates reliability feedback across design, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and service. The role is onsite in the San Francisco Bay Area or Reno and requires up to 20% travel to suppliers and customers.

Leads and builds the product compliance department for solid-state transformer platforms. Owns electrical and functional safety, cybersecurity, EMC/EMI, certification strategy, standards interpretation, NRTL relationships, testing, traceability, and compliance readiness. Partners with engineering, product, executives, customers, and certification bodies while remaining hands-on in technical reviews and issue resolution. Develops compliance infrastructure, internal testing capabilities, reporting, and a high-performing compliance organization.

Own full-cycle recruiting for technical and specialized roles, from talent mapping and sourcing through candidate engagement, assessment, offer, and close. Build targeted strategies for difficult searches, engage passive candidates, partner with hiring managers and executives, assess candidate fit, manage multiple pipelines, maintain accurate ATS data, and improve recruiting processes while operating autonomously in a fast-moving environment.

Design and lead embedded firmware for real-time power regulation, protection, and control in SST systems. Own bootloader, security, and platform integration, collaborate with hardware teams, and ensure performance, testing, and project delivery.

Manage and develop a globally distributed team of Supplier Industrialization Engineers, overseeing strategies and processes for supplier onboarding, development, and quality across manufacturing systems.

Design isolated and non-isolated converter stages, implement advanced topologies, perform trade-off analysis, develop control algorithms, and coordinate with design and manufacturing teams for power electronics systems.

Own the end-to-end compliance program for solid-state transformer products, coordinating certification, regulatory approvals, testing, documentation, risk mitigation, and audit readiness. Align engineering, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, and operations around compliance milestones across EVT, DVT, PVT, and production release. Manage external test labs and regulatory bodies, integrate safety and EMC requirements into product design, oversee material and component compliance, and develop internal testing infrastructure. The role is on-site five days per week and requires up to 30% international travel.

Lead control architecture for AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion systems, ensuring performance from concept through production. Mentor engineers and drive system performance analysis, validation, and implementation.

The Reliability Engineer will drive reliability for Solid-State Transformers, conduct test plans, analyze data, document risks, and support hardware deployment.
