Supports safety and systems engineering for Aurora’s autonomous driving platform. Responsibilities include safety and fault analysis, requirements development, tooling, test coverage and data analysis, scenario discovery, and communicating recommendations to engineering stakeholders. Interns apply structured methods such as FMEA, fault trees, and STPA while evaluating safety-critical system behavior and requirements.

Define and evolve Aurora’s autonomous-vehicle runtime framework across on-vehicle and cloud execution. Design high-performance, low-latency IPC and RPC, manage configuration and process lifecycles, improve deterministic simulation and log replay, and build fault monitoring and recovery capabilities. The role also involves creating intuitive C++ APIs, supporting field testing, mentoring engineers, setting coding standards, and driving the framework roadmap.

Lead system security engineering for autonomous vehicle platforms, defining security requirements, interfaces, threat models, risk analyses, trade studies, and verification plans. Integrate hardware security, secure boot, cryptography, key management, and secure communications across vehicle compute, sensors, networks, and cloud telemetry. Partner with hardware, embedded software, safety, validation, suppliers, and Tier-1 organizations to align cybersecurity with functional safety and regulatory requirements.
