Teams at Climate Defiance

Temporary communications consultant to manage a small communications team, oversee projects, edit written content, and create social media copy (tweets, Substack essays, Instagram captions). Develop messaging for activist actions/campaigns and ensure consistent voice across platforms. Approximately 20 hours/week, set weekday availability.

Lead HR strategy and operations: employee relations, conflict resolution, performance management, onboarding, pay equity audits, training, policy compliance, and HR reporting. Partner with executive leadership and board to align HR with organizational goals and maintain confidential personnel records.

Lead earned-media strategy and execution across print, radio, TV, blogs, podcasts and other outlets. Build press relationships, write releases, pitch and cold-call journalists, support interviews, manage messaging, travel extensively for actions and site visits, and grow a collaborative team aligned with progressive direct-action goals.
