Kivo Health
AI-powered virtual care for chronic lung disease
Kivo Health is a YC-backed healthcare startup rebuilding pulmonary rehabilitation as a virtual, tech-enabled program for people with COPD, a condition affecting up to 30 million Americans, costing the system nearly $60 billion a year, and reaching fewer than 3% of eligible patients today due to access barriers like transportation and limited clinic capacity. Our 9-week virtual program pairs a connected tablet kit with live small-group sessions led by respiratory therapists and continuous real-time vitals monitoring (patents pending), letting clinicians safely guide patients through exercise from home. We just closed an oversubscribed $10M Series A led by Allumia Ventures (total funding over $16M), backed by a peer-reviewed study showing a 24% improvement in symptoms and 83% median attendance, and we’re already covered by major payers including UnitedHealthcare, Humana, and Medicare.
Our engineering team is small, generalist, and genuinely AI-native, agentic coding is part of day-to-day workflow, not a bolt-on. Engineers move fluidly across dev tooling, product features, and core web app work on a stack built on Python/Django and TypeScript/React/React Native. With new capital behind us, we’re hiring across multiple engineering levels in-office in Seattle, for people who want outsized ownership on a problem with real clinical stakes.
