The Senior Product and Commercial Counsel will lead technology transaction negotiations and advise on product, privacy, data protection, and commercial matters. The role partners with leadership and cross-functional teams including Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Security. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating customer and vendor agreements, managing legal matters independently, translating technical issues into contractual terms, and supporting enterprise customers, partnerships, and evolving business models.

Conduct outbound prospecting to identify companies that need PlanetScale, research their technical infrastructure and business needs, and create AI-assisted campaigns using tools such as Claude and Clay. Engage engineers and technical leaders, qualify opportunities, build pipeline, and identify effective outbound strategies. The role also contributes to developing the company’s outbound playbook and automating repetitive sales work.

Build internal tools, AI-enabled agents, bots, integrations, and dashboards that automate incident response, support, onboarding, and operational workflows. The engineer will integrate LLM APIs and AI coding tools, work with Slack and PagerDuty, ship rapid improvements, and own projects from design through ongoing support while collaborating with senior engineers and leadership.
