Teams at The San Francisco Standard

Shoot and edit short-form social videos for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms. Transform reporter and contributor footage into compelling, accurate stories; cover breaking news and local events; create original field footage; add graphics, captions, music, and sound; and collaborate with newsroom teams on concepts and storytelling. The role requires fast turnaround, strong visual judgment, platform expertise, and the ability to manage multiple projects in person at the San Francisco newsroom.

Associate Editor will help build the Ideas section by finding and cultivating contributors, managing submissions, commissioning and editing opinion and commentary pieces, and collaborating with the newsroom. The role covers San Francisco and California politics, culture, technology, and related issues. The editor will evaluate pitches, shape arguments and writing, manage deadlines, and contribute original reporting and writing as capacity allows.

The San Francisco Standard seeks creative builders, hackers, and community leaders who can develop engaging projects reflecting San Francisco. They want to support individuals who create interesting tools, experiences, or events that resonate with the community.
