Lead a team building turbopuffer’s user-facing features, including dashboards, documentation, SDKs, observability, alerting, insights, and billing. Design and implement end-to-end developer experience improvements across web interfaces and the core database. Manage and grow a team, support hiring, help customers optimize workloads, and communicate complex concepts clearly. The role requires product-minded engineering leadership, strong web application experience, SaaS expertise, UX sensitivity, and technical people management.

Design and improve search engine layers including storage, indexing, and querying. Perform intensive performance optimization using profiling, SIMD, data-structure tuning, and I/O optimization. Evolve full-text, vector, and reranking APIs; collaborate with customers; document technical concepts; and contribute expertise in search, storage engines, or distributed systems.

Leads and develops the deployed engineering team while serving as a technical champion for customers. Owns technical outcomes across sales, evaluations, implementations, expansions, and renewals through demos, benchmarks, POCs, solution architecture, and troubleshooting. Partners with GTM and Engineering, represents the customer voice, supports customers in Slack, and builds trust through clear technical communication and hands-on problem solving.

Close inbound deals with technical customers, manage proofs of concept, collaborate with solutions engineers, support customers in Slack, answer technical questions honestly, and improve internal sales systems. The role requires technical literacy, systematic pipeline management, strong written communication, urgency, independence, experimentation, and customer-focused judgment.

Build turbopuffer’s partner program from scratch, including partner strategy, cloud-provider relationships, marketplace listings, integrations, co-selling motions, joint accounts, and revenue generation. Negotiate alliance deals, engage systems integrators, translate partner needs to engineering, and develop repeatable marketplace and sales processes. The role requires technical fluency, independent execution, strong writing, and experience building trust across organizations.

As a Customer Engineer, you will debug issues, optimize queries, assist customers in Slack, and ensure customer outcomes while communicating effectively.
