About the Role
The Data engineering team has been created keeping in mind the importance and criticality of data for the overall success of Chime. The mission of the group is to build a scalable data platform that caters to the data plumbing needs of Chime. As one of the founding members of this team, you will have the rare opportunity to build scalable data systems from scratch. Additionally, you will have the unique opportunity to architect and build workflows that could potentially become de facto standards for the fintech industry.
Responsibilities
- Be a hands-on data engineer, building, scaling and optimizing ETL pipelines
- Use SQL to build dashboards and help partner teams with tuning and performance improvements of SQL
- Design data warehouse schemas and make sure upstream changes are documented and persisted
- Own schema registry and dependency chart for persistent data
- Ownership of all aspects of data - data quality, data governance, data and schema design, data quality and security
- Own the ETL workflows and make sure the pipeline meets data quality and availability requirements
- Work closely with partner teams, like Data Science, Analytics and DevOps
Requirements
- 5+ years of expertise creating and evolving dimensional data models & schema designs to structure data
- 5+ years of hands-on experience using SQL to build and deploy production-quality ETL pipelines
- 3+ years experience ingesting and transforming data frominto dimensional models
- 3+ years of experience writing and deploying Python, or Java code
- 3+ years of hands-on experience using any MPP database system like Snowflake, AWS Redshift or Teradata
- Track record of successful partnerships with product, engineering and DevOps teams
- understanding of key metrics for data pipelines and has built solutions to provide visibility to partner teams
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically which scale to meet future needs
- Experience developing scripts and tools to enable faster data consumption
- Demonstrated skill to leverage automation and data science to enhance data quality as well as scale ETL operability
- Open to being on call during critical product releases and willing to step in during SLA misses and outages
