THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced and strategic leader to own the compliance function here at Point.  As Point’s first dedicated full-time compliance professional, you will have an opportunity to build and shape Point’s compliance program for its proprietary home equity investment product as well as its suite of mortgage products.  We need a dynamic builder that naturally gravitates towards scalable, platform-centric, and user-friendly compliance solutions.  Most importantly, you always think about the consumer first.  

As a senior leader within the company you will have a high degree of visibility across the organization, and will regularly interface with product, ops, sales, marketing, engineering, investor operations, finance, and legal.  This position reports to the Head of Legal.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and implement Point’s regulatory compliance system, including:
    • policies and procedures; 
    • risk assessments; 
    • monitoring and testing of compliance controls; 
    • administration of corrective action processes; 
    • complaint management;  and 
    • compliance training programs.
  • Provide guidance to the leadership team and all employees on compliance matters and new developments.
  • Periodically report to the leadership team and Board of Directors regarding the design, operation, and effectiveness of the company's compliance program.
  • Manage and develop a compliance team.
  • Maintain awareness  of compliance trends, applicable laws and regulations, and provide practical business solutions that maintain the company's compliance within an evolving regulatory landscape.
  • Serve as primary in-house subject matter expert to provide compliance advice and guidance to all staff, addressing any compliance questions.
  • Assist with the development of new products and services, or modifications to existing ones, to identify any compliance related issues or new compliance requirements.
  • Review marketing materials prior to publication to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement compliance training programs for new and existing employees.
  • Facilitate regulatory compliance examinations from state regulators.
  • Assist with state and federal reporting, such as HMDA or state NMLS reporting.
  • Manage and maintain Point’s licensing portfolio.
  • Partner with business unit stakeholders to maintain a robust vendor management program.


You Have

  • 8+ years of mortgage compliance experience
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws impacting mortgage origination and servicing, including but not limited to: Dodd-Frank and CFPB oversight environment, HMDA, Privacy, Fair Credit Reporting, Flood Insurance, AML, OFAC, TILA, ECOA, FCRA, RESPA, Fair Housing Act, Homeowners Protection Act, and predatory lending laws
  • Experience building new compliance programs and implementing platform/product changes into origination systems
  • Experience building compliance programs within a tech company
  • JD and/or CRCM is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including superior policy drafting skills
  • Excellent teamwork, organizational, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills, and personal commitment to quality

Work From Home Stipends
With employees working remote through June 2021, Point will provide employees a $50 monthly cell phone stipend and a $50 monthly internet stipend. In addition, we will reimburse up to $150 to help you purchase supplies for your home office.

Currently with Covid, our offices are our homes, so we've got a variety of neighborhoods! Our office is centrally located off the PA Caltrain stop.
