The Sr. Director/Director, Supply Chain will have primary accountability for maintaining a robust supply chain for laboratory reagents, supplies, and services through effective planning and supplier management. This role will lead all activities related to Warehouse Management, Supply Chain Planning, and Master Data Management. The Sr. Director/Director, Supply Chain will develop and deliver processes, systems, and procedures to meet the future requirements for operational scale and regulatory landscape. It will partner with the Clinical Lab, Procurement, Finance, and Technical organizations to deliver cost improvements via sourcing or supply optimization. As GRAIL continues to grow, the successful candidate will identify and champion improvements in the use of our existing ERP system. This role reports to the SVP, Strategic Operations & Scale.
You Will:
- Lead GRAIL’s Supply Chain team, mentoring and developing staff to continuously build the group’s capabilities and readiness for the growing complexity and scale of the business.
- Lead detailed COGS analysis, identify, and execute cost reduction opportunities.
- Develop vision and deliver the future of supply chain and business operation systems (PLM, ERP, Sales Ops) to position GRAIL for scale and growth
- Drive continuous process improvement throughout the Supply Chain team, identifying and prioritizing proposed improvements, aligning stakeholders on the changes, and measuring and communicating their business impact.
- Support Procurement team to develop and launch new products and key research programs to avoid project delays, manage materials costs, and ensure that vendors used in product development projects are suitable suppliers for use in commercial products.
- Lead Supplier Review Board to prioritize and to drive vendor risk assessments, risk mitigation, and development of additional suppliers to eliminate sole-sourcing on critical materials.
- Support regular vendor supply risk assessments, proposing and implementing appropriate risk mitigations.
- Drive continuous improvement in material costs by identifying, prioritizing, and driving cost saving opportunities.
- Ensure consistent compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
Your Background Will Include:
- A minimum of 10 years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience in developing professional individuals as well as building and motivating a team, with 5+ years of managerial experience.
- A track record of success in meeting the supply chain needs of a diverse internal customer base and ensuring uninterrupted supply of materials to production and research and development.
- Experience with implementation of new ERP systems and/or new ERP modules, including process mapping and development of business requirements.
- Direct experience enhancing or optimizing ERP supply chain modules including selection, configuration, and implementation of new systems.
- Experience developing and managing change control and change notification processes with key vendors for Grail’s custom parts as well as off-the-shelf parts.
- Experience in the diagnostics, medical device, clinical laboratory, or other relevant regulated industry operating under CLIA, ISO 13485, FDA, QSR, or ISO 15189.
- Proficient in the fundamentals of manufacturing Bills of Materials.
- Proficient in the fundamentals of materials planning strategies including but not limited to MRP Planning, Re-order Planning, Kan-Ban, and Pull Systems.
- Experience in custom capital equipment procurement.
- Experience developing requirements for RFP and RFQ’s.
- History of successful identification and implementation of process improvements with measurable business impact.
- Exceptional skills and a track record of success in communicating and collaborating with internal customers and vendors to support product and process development projects.
- Exceptional skills and a track record of success in constructive engagement of internal customers and vendors to resolve and prevent issues with quality and availability of vendor-provided products and services.
- Strong communicator with ability to maintain open communication with internal employees, managers and suppliers as needed.
- Experience with contract development and negotiation is desired
