The Motional Technical Program Management team is seeking to hire an experienced Principal TPM to support our autonomous vehicle integration and bring up activities. You will work closely with a cross-functional engineering team to build, integrate, and deploy cutting-edge autonomous vehicle technology. You will contribute to Motional’s driverless future by leading the planning and integration of our vehicle subsystems, and ensuring platform bring up and readiness for operations.

What You'll Do

  • Drive definition, development, integration, and verification of vehicle subsystems, such as Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Emergency Stop, and Drive by Wire (DBW)
  • Work across the organization with Systems Engineering, Component Engineering, Vehicle Engineering and software developers to plan, architect, and drive rollout of the vehicle network architecture in a synchronized manner
  • Lead vehicle readiness activities for driverless milestones - Proactively work with triage and Development teams to burn down platform issues, risks, and blockers
  • Work closely with System Engineering and Safety teams to drive platform system-level analysis and verification activities
  • Facilitate technical discussions to synchronize stakeholder expectations and schedule dependencies, and flag discrepancies and misalignment
  • Provide concise and and effective communications to key stakeholders
  • Engage with representative engineering leads to develop timing plan that meets program objectives
  • Actively manage day-to-day program execution, tracking progress against key metrics and removing blockers and inefficiencies as required
  • Coordinate with the greater program and organization to prioritize and deconflict activities and resources
  • Proactively identify, manage, and report on risks and issues

What We're Looking For

  • Overall 4+ years of work experience including demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary technical programs, successfully delivering on time and within budget
  • Demonstrated experience working across teams and disciplines resolving competing priorities and managing dependencies
  • Strong understanding of Systems Engineering fundamentals, especially how it relates to hardware, software and system-level design
  • Broad knowledge of automotive system interfaces such as 10/100/Gigabit Ethernet, Automotive Ethernet, CAN / CAN-FD, LIN, and LVDS
  • Proficient in tools or processes required to manage complex programs/projects (i.e. Smartsheets, JIRA, Confluence, risk matrix)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, especially the ability to communicate complex engineering issues and tailor messaging based on audience
  • Passion for bringing cutting edge technology to a fielded production environment
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment across multiple time zones
  • Degree in Engineering, Robotics, or a related field
  • Ability to work out of Motional’s Pittsburgh or Boston locations several days per week

Bonus Points

  • MS Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Familiar with Autonomous vehicle development process and architecture
