About the Role
As a Compliance Associate, Product at Chime, you’ll be responsible for overseeing product compliance for our growing product offerings in the deposit, credit, and lending spaces. You’ll ensure we adhere to federal, state, and local agency regulations. This will involve partnership with internal teams, as well as collaboration with our issuing bank partners’ legal and compliance teams, to facilitate quality and innovative compliance risk management solutions. You’ll work with internal and external partners to review, advise and launch innovative products at Chime. You will achieve success by leading yourself, the team, and the business to bring the best products to market for our amazing Chime members!
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and analysis on federal, state, and local regulations affecting consumer credit, lending, and deposit products
- Be the Subject Matter Expert and possess in-depth knowledge of consumer laws and regulations related to the marketing and offering of consumer banking products to ensure Chime’s adherence and compliance with, but not limited to, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (Regulation V), Truth In Lending Act (Regulation Z), Unfair, Deceptive, and Abusive Acts and Practices, Electronic Funds Transfer Act (Regulation E), and Truth in Savings Act (Regulation DD), as well as state-specific rules and regulations.
- Research and communicate initial risk assessment for new products, services, and features
- Develop internal documentation to provide compliance obligation frameworks and controls for use by business and support functions for new and emerging products, services or features
- Review current and new products and create compliance controls from inception of ideas to launch, including marketing materials, disclosures, and customer agreements.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in banking, credit, lending or deposits, or equivalent experience in product compliance
- Juris Doctor preferred
- Specific knowledge of key regulations including but not limited to: ECOA (Reg B), TILA (Reg Z) , the CARD Act, Electronic Funds Transfers (Reg E), FDCPA, privacy-related laws, FCRA, and UDAAP.
- Experience researching, interpreting, and applying banking rules, regulations, and industry standards practices.
- Love to collaborate and have the ability to influence both your colleagues and external partners to achieve consensus on regulatory risk issues and appropriate mitigation
- Possess excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills
- Are results-oriented and work with minimum supervision
- A strong candidate also has understanding in at least one of the following: secured consumer loans, unsecured consumer loans, and/or consumer credit cards; experience supporting a bank partnership
