About the Team and Role

The Crunchyroll Games is a new division of Crunchyroll focused on bringing the best of anime and anime-look games to Crunchyroll’s global audience. We work with a variety of global and domestic partners to help publish games to over 100+ countries, and bring more fans into the anime games ecosystem. Our team is composed of anime enthusiasts, gaming experts, and mash-up of keenly intelligent and hyper driven individuals. We are highly collaborative, and work closely with multiple stakeholders to ensure success in a competitive and fast-growing market.

We are looking for a Manager of Partnerships and Strategy for the games division, whereby this role would work closely with games leadership, business development, marketing, and publishing to steer key partnerships in the right direction and pursue strategic opportunities as prioritized by the team. This includes overseeing original development projects, high-visibility brand partnerships, key studio projects, and other such directives that advance the Games division. This role combines strategic thinking with tactical operating, and will have high visibility with leadership and external partners. 

Location: San Francisco

Our headquarters is located in downtown San Francisco, where our group of cross-functional experts assemble to create experiences for Crunchyroll and VRV’s passionate communities.

About Yourself

You must be a leader, capable of defining and executing a strategic vision, managing key pillars and tentpole projects, and working with senior stakeholders both internally and externally. In addition to your high-level strategic thinking, you must also have an acute ability to multitask, managing a wide variety of priorities, and have excellent presentation and communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 4+ years relevant experience in management consulting, strategy and operations, or corporate development
  • Experience in business development or external partner management a strong plus
  • Understanding of games, media, and entertainment audiences
  • Track record of managing multi-threaded, end-to-end projects
  • Experience working cross-functionally with internal and external partners, and building consensus across a range of goals and objectives
  • Comfortable presenting proposals, plans, and strategies to a wide range of stakeholders across multiple disciplines
  • Critical thinker, with strong attention to detail and operating tactics
  • Comfortable and experienced working with product, engineering, marketing, and design teams 
  • Flexible and quick-thinking, you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
  • A very fast learner and able to pick up new context quickly
  • Must have a respect for fandoms, and understand the importance of community-building

Typical Week in this Role

  • Interface and engage with external partners (at functional and leadership level) for regular progress check ins and alignment
  • Be the primary contact person for multiple high-priority and high-visibility partners
  • Assist the GM on key materials and presentations for a variety of leadership discussions across games relevant topics
  • Pitch and present new collaboration opportunities with select studios, strategic partners, and brand affiliates
  • Create end-to-end strategy and operations decks for internal and external stakeholders
  • Run cross-functional meetings to advance on key project milestones
  • Define growth goals and own KPIs, forecasts, marketing channels and tactics for your projects
  • Help assess opportunities for our games brand and dedicated games audience growth
  • Define markets and understand growth potential for new and existing games, working closely with the GM of Games
  • Constant, clear communication of objectives, status and results
  • Collaborate with paid media, lifecycle marketing, audience development, brand management, engineering, PR, creative and other internal teams
