The company:

WiFi is the new electricity. Outside of the smartphone, it’s the technology we depend on the most; the foundation for the modern home. It makes our favorite experiences – Netflix, Spotify, FaceTime – come to life. Without it, almost nothing works.

But at best, WiFi is like death by a thousand cuts: dead zones, painful setup, embarrassing passwords, equipment that’s a major eyesore. At worst, it fails completely – just as you’re trying to send that critical file to your boss or firing up the Sonos for your dinner party.

eero is fixing all of this. It’s not easy, which is why we’ve built a world-class team and culture. We all believe deeply in what we’re doing, and, as importantly, enjoy doing it together.

Job overview:

The System EPM provides the heartbeat for hardware development at eero. They are jack-of-all-trades engineers who leverage a wide breadth of technical and manufacturing expertise to develop schedules and project milestones that properly balance technical risk and maintain team focus. The EPM owns and manage the hardware development process, from concept, right through the start of mass production. They lead the team through roadmap development, concept and architecture definition, keep up our consultant relationships, support supplier selection, and manage day-to-day project execution. Most of all, System EPMs are fearless champions of the customer experience. Their role is highly cross-functional, technical, and instrumental to great product development.

What you’ll do:

  • Own our hardware development process. Instill and evangelize a standard for hardware maturity. Help enforce engineering rigor and manage executive expectations
  • Structure our long-range roadmap development. Queue up exploratory activities and stay abreast of industry trends and new technology development
  • Set the hardware schedule. Define the critical path and develop a build cadence that sets aggressive targets while managing risk.
  • Be the hub for hardware communication. Act as the primary point of contact for overall hardware development.
  • Track program risks and drive closure on engineering issues. Organize and host design maturity reviews and enforce project milestones.
  • Plan and execute all engineering builds (Proto, EVT, DVT) with cross-functional teams and factory partners.
  • Drive day-to-day hardware project execution.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Drives what matters. You never lose sight of the critical path and can evangelize others to follow it.
  • Sees around corners. You are proactive, not reactive. You recognize long range risks and know how to mitigate them. You may even be part psychic.
  • Fosters collaboration. A great team can do anything. You know how build trust and mediate disputes between cross-functional teams. You relentlessly communicate and encourage collaboration.
  • Is curious. You get excited about things you don’t know. You ask lots of questions and go searching for answers. Geeking out is part of what makes it fun to come to work.
  • Obsesses over the customer experience.
  • Has 3-6 years of mixed RF/Wireless and Program Management experience. Consumer hardware development and direct factory experience is a plus.
  • Has a broad understanding of wireless technologies, design principles, and architectures.
  • BSEE/ME or equivalent. MS preferred.
