Vitalize, a San Francisco-based healthcare technology provider, announced $31 million in Series A funding. The round, led by Oak HC/FT, will fuel growth as the company works to help hospitals optimize their labor and capacity operations.

Vitalize operates an AI-native platform designed to help healthcare systems better manage their workforces and improve capacity planning. It coordinates staffing and capacity for the entire organization, leveraging AI to automate scheduling and forecast patient demand across thousands of beds in real time. Vitalize currently manages millions of shifts a week across dozens of enterprise health systems.

“Health systems are still running their single largest cost center on spreadsheets and group texts. That drains the budget, burns out frontline teams and hurts patients,” Veeraj Shah, Vitalize’s CEO and co-founder, said in a statement. “We built Vitalize to move labor and capacity from manual and reactive to automated and predictive. We’re helping leading health systems save tens of millions of dollars on labor while fixing the No. 1 pain point for their frontline staff.”

Equipped with its new capital, Vitalize will build out its growth and deployment teams and invest in AI models for patient throughput optimization.
