Job Description

The Accountant, Expense will work on a variety of core accounting activities essential to reporting Company expenses, including but not limited to, preparation and recording of general ledger journal entries, month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial analysis for portfolio companies. This role will also perform any duties normally associated with this position that are not expressly outlined here, and any other activities that will contribute to the growth of the organization.
  • Correctly prepare and book accounting transactions with minimal oversight, oversee month-end accounting data, troubleshoot complex month-end accounting issues, guide newer staff on month-end close.
  • Independently complete month-end expense accounting processes, resolve complex accounting issues, ensure accuracy of general ledger.
  • Independently address any reconciliation issues and proactively seek solutions to open items and close out balances on accounts.
  • Oversee the maintenance of expense records, implement best practices for documentation.
  • Take ownership and effectively communicate with other junior staff members.
  • Work internal audit projects, evaluate expense impact, recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Periodically conduct research on accounting literature changes, consult your manager and present on necessary adjustments to management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience
  • SAAS experience preferred
  • Understanding of US GAAP
  • Strong user of MS Excel including pivot tables and use of formulas. Working knowledge of Workday, or similar accounting system, preferred. 
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks with commitment and willingness to see issues through to resolution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present and articulate complex financial analysis in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to apply data in providing solutions and driving strategic business decisions
  • History of working effectively with both executives and peers
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, success-driven team environment 
  • Well organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects
