2026 Summer Intern - Process Engineering

Department Summary

Genentech specializes in biologics with incredibly complex processes requiring

high-level engineering. The Process Engineering department is the bridge that allows the introduction of processes and equipment to its large-scale production for patients. We collaborate with Quality and Technical groups to ensure we deliver safe, pure, and effective medicine.

This internship position is located in Oceanside, on-site.

The Opportunity

  • May assist perform process design services for facility projects, equipment upgrading and replacement.

  • May assist engineering personnel in conducting studies and engineering calculations.

  • May assist engineering personnel in generating supporting documents.

  • May assist engineering in auditing engineering documents, such as P&IDs.

  • May assist engineering personnel in gathering data for process monitoring.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June (Summer).

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are (Required) 

Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must be pursuing or have attained an Associate's Degree.

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).

Required Majors:

  • Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or related fields.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in Windows OS and diverse computer-based systems.

  • Strong foundational grasp of STEM principles, including Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry.

  • Technical expertise in core engineering concepts, with a specialized focus on Fluid Mechanics.

  • Comprehensive understanding of biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes and regulatory standards.

  • Articulate communicator capable of delivering high-impact presentations and technical reports.

  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to manage complex assignments independently.

  • Highly organized with a focus on strategic.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. 

The expected salary for this position based on the primary location of California is $45.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
