Summary: 

The Absence Management Consultant will serve a key-role as a subject matter expert within Centro’s Absence Consulting Center of Excellence (COE). Reporting to the Director of Absence Consulting, the Absence Management Consultant will be responsible for supporting and advising Centro Regional Sales Executives and their broker clients with absence management-related questions and issues. They will also be responsible for executing client and sales support initiatives and projects associated with the ongoing development and advancement of the COE 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):  

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for internal Regional Sales Executives and Analysts on all matters related to absence, disability, and leave programs. 

  • Provide expert consultation on the design, compliance, and management of group disability, FMLA, and paid leave programs for large, complex clients. 

  • Assist in developing and presenting strategic recommendations to brokers/clients, helping them navigate compliance risks and optimize their programs. 

  • Enable the sales and renewal process by providing deep technical analysis and collateral that supports the strategic recommendations presented by Regional Sales Executives and COE leadership. 

  • Provide direct support to the Director of Absence Consulting by preparing presentation materials, summarizing research findings, and assisting with key COE initiatives. 

  • Contribute to Centro's leave and absence thought leadership content by conducting research, drafting content for white papers and benchmarking studies, and analyzing emerging trends. 

  • Assist with the vendor procurement and negotiation process, including managing RFIs/RFPs, analyzing proposals, and auditing vendor performance to ensure service level agreements are met. 

  • Support the internal analyst team by serving as the ultimate subject matter expert on vendor comparisons. 

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements: 

  • Deep working knowledge of federal, state, and local leave laws, including FMLA, ADA, and state PFML programs. 

  • Strong financial acumen with experience in the analysis of group disability proposals, carrier rate calculations, and renewal projections. 

  • Ability to influence and effectively interact with agency producers, account executives, and members of the C-suite. 

  • Strong attention to detail. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment. 

Education, Training and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred. 

  • Must have 5+ years of experience in the employee benefits field, with a direct focus on designing and managing group absence and disability plans with a consulting/brokerage firm, insurance carrier, or TPA. 

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products, including Excel and PowerPoint. 

  • Familiar with database applications.  

  • Valid life and health insurance license, required. 

Other: 

  • Regional travel required. 

  • Salary range of $150,000-$175,000.  

The typical base pay range for this role nationwide is $150,000 to $175,000 per year 

Your base pay is dependent upon your skills, education, qualifications, professional experience, and location. In addition to base pay, some roles are eligible for variable compensation, commission, and/or annual bonus based on your individual performance and/or the company’s performance. We also offer eligible employees health, wellbeing, retirement, and other financial benefits, paid time off, overtime pay for non-exempt employees, and robust learning and development programs.
