About Modern Relay

Modern Relay is building the knowledge platform for the agent era. Our product caters a new kind of company: one in which humans work alongside internal and external AI agents, and where coordination, context and trust become critical infrastructure. The platform provides a shared layer of truth where both humans and agents can propose updates, contribute knowledge and trigger workflows. This result in a living, compounding knowledge hub that can be read from, written to and improved by both people and software.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a self-starting, highly driven Account Executive who is passionate about AI and technology. You’ll own the full sales cycle and build a growing portfolio of high-value enterprise and mid-market customers, especially teams whose data and workflows are becoming too complex to manage without AI agents. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, is highly accountable, and wants to help define how Modern Relay goes to market.

Locations
  • San Francisco, CA

  • New York City, NY

  • Barcelona, Spain

What You’ll Do
  • Build and manage a growing portfolio of new high-value enterprise and mid-market accounts

  • Own the end-to-end sales process: prospecting, discovery, negotiation, and close

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities aligned with Modern Relay’s product offering and roadmap

  • Generate leads and develop outbound and inbound conversion strategies in collaboration with the Growth team

  • Run effective discovery to understand customer workflows, data complexity, and where AI agents can drive measurable outcomes

  • Negotiate contracts and close deals while maintaining strong deal hygiene and accurate forecasting

  • Partner cross-functionally with Growth, Product, and Engineering to align customer needs with product capabilities and roadmap

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the AI industry, competitive landscape, and key customer use cases

  • Track KPIs and sales performance, providing weekly updates to the wider Modern Relay team

What Success Looks Like
  • A healthy, growing pipeline across enterprise and mid-market segments with clear next steps and strong conversion rates

  • Consistent attainment of weekly and monthly activity and pipeline goals, with accurate forecasting and reporting

  • Closed-won revenue from high-value accounts that are strong fits for Modern Relay’s AI agent workflows

  • Clear, repeatable sales motions and tight collaboration with Growth and cross-functional partners

  • Customer feedback and market insights that help inform positioning and product roadmap

What We’re Looking For
  • 0–5 years of experience in sales, account management, or sales operations (SaaS, AI, or developer/technical products a plus)

  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, run discovery, and manage a sales cycle with accountability and urgency

  • Comfort selling to mid-market and/or large accounts, including navigating multiple stakeholders

  • Strong communication and storytelling skills—able to translate technical concepts into business value

  • High ownership: you set goals, build a plan, and execute with minimal oversight

  • Analytical and process-oriented: you track KPIs, maintain CRM hygiene, and use data to improve performance

  • Curiosity and drive to build deep knowledge of AI, agents, and how modern teams operationalize them

Key Skills
  • Sales

  • Account executive ownership (full-cycle)

  • Account management

  • Sales operations and KPI tracking

  • Mid-market and large account selling

  • Negotiation and contract closing

  • Accountability and execution

Why This Role
  • Own a core growth lever: bringing Modern Relay to teams ready to adopt AI agents in real workflows

  • Work at the intersection of AI, product, and revenue with high autonomy and visibility

  • Help shape go-to-market motions and customer use cases in a fast-growing category
