Source and close partnerships with law firms by building relationships, managing diligence and pipelines, negotiating commercial terms, guiding deals to close, and partnering with leadership to develop sales strategy and processes.
Intro description:
Legalist is a tech-enabled alternative asset manager that uses proprietary data-driven origination to invest in uncorrelated legal and government-payment assets. Founded out of Y Combinator in 2016, Legalist manages over $1.7 billion for endowments, foundations, and family offices.
Legalist is expanding its presence across the personal injury plaintiff market and looking for an entrepreneurial, motivated sales professional to help us grow by identifying and closing new business opportunities. As an early sales hire, you'll work directly with company leadership to build our newest strategy from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, engage, and build relationships with prospective law firm partners
- Facilitate introductory calls, manage the diligence processes, and guide opportunities through the decision-making process
- Maintain and nurture a pipeline of qualified opportunities
- Negotiate commercial terms and drive transactions to close
- Partner directly with leadership to help refine strategy, tailor messaging, and target profiles
- Help build our foundational sales processes and best practices as the strategy scales
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of experience in full cycle sales, business development, investment sourcing, or other relevant relationship-driven roles
- Proven track record of independently sourcing and closing opportunities
- Excellent written and verbal communication, as well as the ability to adjust tone and approach based on audience
- Strong negotiation, and relationship-building skills to build trust with senior professionals who are not easy to reach and are skeptical of traditional sales outreach
- Experience navigating complex, multi-stakeholder decision-making processes
- Comfortable operating with autonomy, including building your own target lists, crafting your own outreach, and developing your sales strategy without a rigid playbook
- You’re excited about the opportunity to build a new strategy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with law firms or professional services businesses
- Familiarity with the personal injury plaintiff bar is a plus
- Experience managing complex transactions or consultative sales processes
