Maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciliations in accordance with the established policies and procedures of Rolling Hills Casino.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to analyze financial information and to prepare data for financial reports.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information pertaining to the following: general ledger, fixed assets, inventory, month end closing, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
- Manages Daily Operating Reports for Executive Team
- Generates, prepares, reviews, adjust and corrects general journal entries in an accurate and timely matter.
- Creates Inventory journal entries to ensure proper recording of inventory and COGS
- Manages, enters and tracks assets in the fixed asset system
- Organizes and conducts annual fixed asset inventory, prepares monthly depreciation schedules, records and reconcile depreciation in the general ledger.
- Prepares month end income and expense accrual entries.
- Provides backup to accounts payable by reviewing invoices for accuracy, processes check requests and uploads accounts payable batches from Redrock into Sage
- Periodically will audit payroll reports and PTO accruals to perform account reconciliations
- Reviews and reconciles progressive jackpot reports
- Stays current on accounting standards according to GAAP and GASB regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge of financial applications, proficient in basic computer skills. Experience in Microsoft Suit and 10-key. Sage Accounting software preferred. Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP) required. Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
Education/Experience
Associates degree in accounting or finance and 1 year of accounting experience; or 3 years of responsible casino accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience with revenue recognition, fixed assets, prepaid account amortization schedules and various expense accruals, such as payroll and accounts payable.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply basic math and algebra skills.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information or respond to questions from managers, vendors or customers. Ability to interpret financial statements.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Gaming license issued by the Paskenta Gaming Commission. Must obtain Title 31 certification as trained by Rolling Hills Casino.
