We are seeking experienced accounting professionals to support a project focused on evaluating how effectively AI systems perform real-world accounting work.

As an Accounting Expert, you will help define what high-quality professional accounting work looks like by creating task-specific evaluation criteria and reviewing completed work samples. You will assess both AI-generated and human-produced outputs and provide rigorous, well-reasoned feedback based on professional accounting standards.

This role is ideal for accountants who have strong technical expertise, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to distinguish between work that is merely plausible and work that would meet the standards expected in a professional accounting environment.

Requirements2. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop precise, task-specific grading criteria for accounting deliverables, including:
    • Account reconciliations
    • Month-end and year-end close packages
    • Financial statements and disclosures
    • Accounting workpapers
    • Technical accounting memoranda
  • Evaluate AI-generated and human work samples against established criteria.
  • Provide clear, detailed, and evidence-based written justifications for each evaluation and score.
  • Assess whether accounting outputs accurately apply relevant standards, procedures, and professional judgment.
  • Maintain consistency and objectivity when evaluating different work samples.
  • Ensure evaluations are reproducible, defensible, and aligned with professional accounting expectations.
  • Incorporate feedback from senior reviewers and refine evaluation criteria and assessments accordingly.
  • Identify technical errors, unsupported conclusions, incomplete analysis, and areas where work fails to meet professional standards.
3. Ideal Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional accounting experience.
  • Experience in audit, assurance, or advisory at a leading global accounting firm, or in a senior accounting position within a large public or private organization.
  • CPA or equivalent professional accounting certification strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and practical experience applying accounting standards.
  • Deep familiarity with:
    • Month-end and year-end close processes
    • Account reconciliations
    • Financial statement preparation
    • Financial statement disclosures
    • Audit-ready documentation and workpapers
    • Technical accounting analysis
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain why an accounting deliverable meets or fails to meet professional standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical reasoning.
  • Comfortable having professional judgment reviewed, calibrated, and refined against established evaluation standards.
  • Previous experience with AI training, AI evaluation, data annotation, rubric-based assessment, or human-data projects is a strong advantage.
4. Application Process
  • Submit your resume or relevant professional background to begin the application process.
  • Qualified applicants may be asked to complete a brief technical accounting assessment or provide additional information about their professional experience.
  • Selected candidates will be evaluated based on their accounting expertise, analytical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to communicate technical conclusions clearly.
5. Engagement Details
  • Role: Accounting Expert
  • Work Arrangement: Fully Remote
  • Engagement Type: Independent Contractor
  • Schedule: Flexible, based on project requirements
  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on project needs and performance.
  • Payments are made weekly based on services rendered through available payment platforms.
