We are seeking a highly motivated Accounting Project Manager who enjoys improving processes, leading cross-functional initiatives, and solving complex accounting challenges.


Position Summary

The Accounting Project Manager will lead strategic accounting and finance initiatives that improve the efficiency, scalability, and quality of our global finance operations. Working closely with the Controller, CFO, FP&A, IT, Product, and Operations teams, this individual will drive process improvements, implement new systems, strengthen internal controls, and support month-end close initiatives.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with project management skills and enjoys building scalable processes in a growing international organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Accounting Projects
    • Lead cross-functional accounting and finance projects from planning through implementation.
    • Drive process improvements across month-end close, reconciliations, revenue recognition, accounts payable, treasury, and financial reporting.
    • Document and standardize accounting procedures and internal controls.
    • Coordinate accounting workstreams for system implementations and process automation initiatives.
    • Support ERP, CRM, and financial system enhancements.
  • Financial Close & Reporting
    • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
    • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the financial close process.
    • Review account reconciliations and improve supporting documentation.
    • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance
    • Help strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.
    • Support external audits across multiple jurisdictions.
    • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and applicable accounting standards.
    • Assist with implementing best practices across the accounting organization.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Analyze accounting workflows and recommend process improvements.
    • Develop KPIs to measure accounting efficiency and quality.
    • Create dashboards and reporting tools to monitor finance operations.
    • Lead initiatives focused on automation and continuous improvement.
  • Business Partnership
    • Partner with Operations, Sales, Product, and IT to improve financial processes.
    • Support new products and business initiatives from an accounting perspective.
    • Assist with integrations, new legal entities, and finance transformation projects.
    • Participate in strategic initiatives led by Finance leadership.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA preferred (or actively pursuing).
  • 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Experience leading projects or process improvement initiatives.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.


Preferred

  • Experience with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience in travel, hospitality, SaaS, or another multi-entity environment.
  • International accounting experience.
  • Multi-currency and multi-entity accounting.
  • Experience with automation and reporting tools such as Power BI, Power Automate, Alteryx, or similar.


Success Measures

  • In the first 12 months, the successful candidate will:
    • Successfully lead multiple accounting improvement projects.
    • Reduce month-end close timelines.
    • Improve reconciliation quality and documentation.
    • Automate key manual accounting processes.
    • Strengthen internal controls.
    • Build strong relationships across Finance and Operations.
    • Deliver measurable improvements in accounting efficiency and reporting quality.
