POSITION SUMMARY

Delerme CPA is seeking an experienced Act 60 & Tax Specialist to support our Puerto Rico tax, accounting, and incentive services team. This individual will work under the guidance of the Senior Act 60, Tax & Accounting Lead and assist clients with Act 60 compliance, tax preparation, accounting services, and government agency representation.

The ideal candidate has previous experience in a Puerto Rico public accounting firm, with exposure to Act 60, tax compliance, accounting services, and client representation before Hacienda highly preferred.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Experience in a CPA firm in Puerto Rico
  • Experience using Expert Tax software
  • Knowledge of Puerto Rico tax laws and compliance requirements
  • Experience preparing Puerto Rico Individual Income Tax Returns
  • Strong communication and client service skills
  • Must reside in Puerto Rico
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • Ability to travel throughout Puerto Rico for client and Hacienda meetings

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Act 60 incentives
  • Experience preparing and submitting Act 60 applications through the DDEC Portal
  • Experience preparing Puerto Rico Corporate Income Tax Returns
  • Experience handling Hacienda notices and client representation
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Tax Preparer License; CPA candidate preferred

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Act 60 Services

  • Assist with Act 60 client onboarding
  • Gather documentation for Act 60 applications
  • Prepare and submit Act 60 applications through the DDEC Portal
  • Prepare annual Act 60 compliance reports and supporting documents
  • Monitor Act 60 deadlines and compliance requirements
  • Coordinate with clients regarding decree obligations

Tax Preparation — Puerto Rico Tax Returns

  • Prepare Puerto Rico Individual Income Tax Returns
  • Assist with Puerto Rico Corporate Income Tax Returns
  • Prepare estimated tax calculations
  • Research Puerto Rico tax issues

Tax Preparation — U.S. Tax Returns

  • Prepare U.S. Individual Income Tax Returns
  • Assist with tax notices and client correspondence

Hacienda & Government Agency Matters

  • Represent clients before Hacienda as authorized
  • Follow up on tax notices
  • Assist with certifications, registrations, and government correspondence
  • Resolve client issues with Puerto Rico governmental agencies

Accounting Responsibilities (minimum 4 years of accounting experience)

  • Perform bookkeeping functions
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
  • Maintain general ledger records
  • Prepare financial statements
  • Review and analyze Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow information
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Support accounting cleanup projects

Client Service Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent client communication
  • Maintain accurate records in TaxDome and internal systems
  • Meet deadlines and manage multiple client engagements
  • Escalate complex issues to the Senior Lead

WORK SCHEDULE & LOCATION

  • Remote position — candidate must reside in Puerto Rico
  • Full-time
  • Requires travel throughout Puerto Rico for client and Hacienda meetings

COMPENSATION

Compensation: $80,000, depending on experience.
