OPPORTUNITY 

Our ideal candidate for After School Program Leader must possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The position is responsible for the daily operations of the after school program for students from Kindergarten through Middle School including: maintaining a positive classroom atmosphere, providing occasional help with homework, tending to behavioral issues when any arise, acting as liaison between parents and school staff. Experience working in a school setting is ideal. 

MAIN DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY 

Program Implementation

  • Daily room set-up and clean-up of materials/equipment regularly throughout each afternoon and at the end of each program day
  • Manage student's after school schedules in connection with enrichment programming
  • Develop and lead activities that include but are not limited to indoor/outdoor games, arts and crafts, and science to be led with groups of students
  • Bring innovative ideas for instruction and care, and collaborate with the Director and ASP Team to plan and implement
Student Supervision and Engagement
  • Provide student supervision at all times during program hours
  • Student check-in and tracking of student attendance
  • Actively engage with students during in-person program hours, such as assist students with homework help, supervise play time, and support individual student creative projects
  • Assist students with conflict resolution when needed
  • Provide leadership, positive energy, and good spirit for students, constantly assessing group dynamics and the needs of individual students
  • Work directly with ASP Team to create a safe, warm, fun, and inclusive environment both in the classroom and on the yards/playgrounds
Communication and Collaboration
  • Collaborate with the Director/Assistant Director of Auxiliary and ASP Team in support of program growth and development
  • Communicate with school faculty and staff to support the holistic development of students
  • Attend training and meetings as required to support personal and team development in partnership with school faculty and staff
Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must be punctual, responsible, and reliable 
  • Have professional demeanor and emotional maturity 
  • Knowledge of Youth Development principles, including positive behavior management 
  • Build rapport and communicate well with others 
  • Take initiative and work effectively with others 
  • TB clearance 
  • Fingerprint and Child Abuse Index clearance from the Dept. of Social Service 
  • First Aid and CPR Certified (valued but not required) 
  • Fluent in Mandarin (valued but not required)
