Role Summary

Weekend is seeking an AI Artist to accelerate visual production across our portfolio of family-friendly voice games for Smart TV platforms. You'll be the prompt engineering specialist who enables our Art Director and Cinematic Producer to scale their output—building reusable generation systems for in-game art and creating storyboards and keyframes for AI-generated cinematics. This role is perfect for someone who combines strong visual sensibility with deep fluency in generative AI tools, and who thrives on the craft of getting AI models to produce consistent, on-brand results.

What You'll Do at Weekend:
  • Develop prompt systems for dynamic in-game art generation, creating reusable prompt templates, style anchors, seed images, and parameter libraries that produce consistent visual output across game titles.

  • Create storyboards and keyframes for AI-generated cinematics, translating scripts into visual sequences that guide AI video generation for 20-30 second intro/outro videos.

  • Engineer prompts across multiple AI platforms including Midjourney, Stable Diffusion (ComfyUI, Forge), Flux, and AI video tools like Kling and Runway—understanding which tools excel at what and how to get reliable results from each.

  • Build and document generation workflows that other team members can use, including YAML-formatted prompt structures, negative prompt libraries, and step-by-step guides for achieving specific visual styles.

  • Fine-tune models when needed using LoRA, DreamBooth, or similar techniques to align AI output with established game art styles and character designs.

  • Iterate rapidly on visual output, running multiple generation passes, analyzing what's working and why, and systematically improving prompts based on results.

  • Support the Art Director by translating visual direction into executable prompt systems for dynamically generated game assets—backgrounds, UI elements, decorative art, and promotional visuals.

  • Support the AI Cinematic Producer by generating keyframe images, character poses, environment shots, and motion reference that guide AI video generation and editorial assembly.

  • Maintain visual consistency across generated assets, ensuring AI output aligns with established style guides, color palettes, and brand standards for each game title.

  • Design for TV constraints, understanding 10-foot viewing distances, safe zones for UI compositing, and the visual requirements of Smart TV platforms.

  • Document and share learnings, building institutional knowledge about what prompt approaches work for different visual challenges.

What We're Looking For:
  • 2+ years working with generative AI art tools with a portfolio demonstrating consistent, high-quality output across styles—not just cherry-picked generations, but systematic results.

  • Deep prompt engineering expertise with proven ability to craft, iterate, and refine prompts that reliably produce intended visual outcomes across platforms (Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Flux, etc.).

  • Strong visual fundamentals including composition, color theory, lighting, and an understanding of what makes images work—you don't need to be a traditional artist, but you need to see like one.

  • Experience with ComfyUI, Forge, or similar workflow tools, comfortable building node-based generation pipelines and troubleshooting technical issues.

  • Familiarity with AI video generation tools (Kling, Runway, Pika, etc.) and understanding of how to prompt for camera movement, character animation, and temporal consistency.

  • Systematic problem-solving approach to generation challenges—you analyze why prompts succeed or fail and build on what works rather than relying on luck.

  • Strong documentation skills for creating guides, templates, and workflows that others can follow and build upon.

  • Self-direction and iteration speed, comfortable working independently through rapid prompt cycles without needing constant oversight.

Nice-to-Haves:
  • Experience with model fine-tuning (LoRA, DreamBooth, Custom Diffusion) for style consistency

  • Background in storyboarding, visual development, or pre-production workflows

  • Familiarity with game art production pipelines and asset requirements

  • Experience creating character animations, idle loops, or motion reference with AI tools

  • Understanding of cinematic composition—camera angles, shot types, visual storytelling

  • Python scripting or custom node creation for ComfyUI

  • Traditional art or design background that informs your AI work

Why Join Volley:

Weekend is building innovative gaming experiences that reach millions of players on Smart TVs. As our AI Artist, you'll be at the intersection of creative vision and AI production—enabling our small team to produce visual work at a scale that would otherwise require a much larger art department. You'll work with collaborators who understand AI's potential and limitations, with the opportunity to define best practices for AI-assisted game art production.

Contract Details: Fractional/contract role starting at ~15-25 hours/week with potential to scale based on production cycles. Hourly rate of $50-80 (based on experience). Remote-friendly with core collaboration hours for creative reviews and milestone check-ins. Work will flex between game art support and cinematics production depending on project phase.

Weekend is committed to the full inclusion of all qualified individuals. As part of this commitment, Weekend will ensure that persons are provided reasonable accommodations throughout the hiring process. If any reasonable accommodation is needed, please reach out to your hiring contact.
