Role:

We are seeking an AI Engineer to work within the office of the CIO for fundamental equities at Point72 to apply the latest AI technologies to solve real world problems and streamline day-to-day operations. This role partners directly with L/S equity portfolio managers, analysts, and business leadership to build innovative solutions to improve efficiency and research quality across the equities platform.  

The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver with a collaborative and commercial mindset and the ability to develop modern AI technologies.  

Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with investment professionals to understand their workflows and process and translate those into high impact AI solutions.
  • Design and build AI‑driven research tools and workflows, with a focus on large language models (LLMs), retrieval‑augmented generation, and agentic systems.
  • Build GenAI solutions, leveraging both internal models and external APIs.
  • Apply emerging AI capabilities pragmatically, balancing innovation with robustness, speed, and adoption.
  • Drive solutions from concept to production, including prototyping, evaluation, deployment, and user feedback loops.
  • Collaborate with the AI platform engineering team to ensure solutions are scalable and well-integrated with existing systems.
  • Be on the frontier of applying new AI technology, continually assessing new models and techniques for commercial relevance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors, MS, or PhD in machine learning, computer science, statistics, or other quantitative discipline.
  • Academic or industry experience with data analysis, NLP, or applied machine learning beyond LLMs.
  • Cutting edge knowledge of LLMs and modern AI systems, including prompt engineering, fine‑tuning, evaluation, tool‑use, and retrieval‑based architectures.
  • Strong ability to tackle open‑ended and complex problems and develop practical, deployable solutions.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and general software engineering principles.
  • Experience building internal platforms or tools with heavy end user interaction and feedback.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with non‑technical but highly sophisticated end users.
  • Strong commercial mindset.
  • Intellectual curiosity and an interest in financial markets.
