As an AI Frontend Engineer, you will design and build scalable user interfaces for AI products, collaborating with cross-functional teams and integrating frontend solutions with backend services.
We’re looking for a Frontend Engineer to help define and build the core product experience from the ground up. This is a 0→1 role for someone who loves turning powerful AI capabilities into fast, intuitive, and beautifully crafted user experiences.
You’ll work at the intersection of AI, product, and design, partnering closely with founders and cross-functional teammates to shape not just how we build, but what we build. You’ll own the frontend architecture and user experience for key parts of the platform, move quickly from prototype to production, and help establish the engineering standards and product instincts that will shape the company as we grow.
If you’re excited by ambiguity, strong ownership, and building AI-native products that people love, we’d love to talk.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Mountain View, California.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Own the frontend experience end-to-end — from architecture and implementation to polish, performance, and long-term maintainability.
- Build and ship high-performance product experiences in TypeScript/JavaScript and React, with a strong focus on usability, speed, and quality.
- Translate ambiguous ideas and complex user needs into elegant, scalable interfaces that evolve with the product.
- Rapidly prototype and iterate on new features and workflows, leveraging AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate learning, experimentation, and execution.
- Design AI-native user experiences for products powered by LLMs, agents, and frontier models — making advanced capabilities intuitive, reliable, and trustworthy.
- Help shape technical and product direction as a founding engineer, influencing frontend architecture, engineering standards, and team velocity.
- Raise the bar for engineering quality through code reviews, technical design discussions, and strong practices in testing, observability, and performance.
- Monitor, profile, and optimize frontend performance, identifying bottlenecks and ensuring a smooth experience as the product scales.
- Contribute beyond the frontend when needed (e.g., backend integrations in Node.js, debugging across the stack, internal tooling) to help the team move faster.
Here are the skills you should have:
- 4+ years of experience building modern web applications with strong ownership of shipped product experiences.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, and React.
- Strong understanding of frontend architecture, reusable component systems, and state management patterns.
- Experience integrating with APIs and collaborating closely with backend engineers to ship end-to-end features.
- Product-minded engineering instincts: you care deeply about UX quality, speed, and developer/user experience.
- Comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous, early-stage environments with high ownership and rapid iteration.
- Familiarity with AI products, LLMs, or agent-based workflows, or strong curiosity and enthusiasm to learn quickly.
- Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
Bonus Points:
- Experience contributing to backend services (Node.js, Express, or similar).
- Experience building developer tools, AI products, or technical workflows.
- Experience designing interfaces for AI-assisted or agentic product experiences.
- Experience building 0→1 products or working on a founding/startup team.
- Strong eye for product quality and interaction details.
