About Brain Co.

Brain Co. is an applied AI startup founded by Elad Gil and Jared Kushner, backed by many of Silicon Valley’s leading builders—including Patrick Collison (CEO of Stripe), Andrej Karpathy (Cofounder of OpenAI), Mike Krieger (CPO of Anthropic), Kevin Weil (CPO of OpenAI), and Aravind Srinivas (CEO of Perplexity).

We build AI platforms and applications for the world’s most important institutions, delivering real impact on complex, real-world problems.

Our progress so far:

  • Automated construction permitting for a sovereign government → 80% faster, unlocking $375M+ in value

  • Optimized supply chains for a global energy leader → 30% lower cost, 99% reliability, preventing $100M+ in losses

  • Streamlined hospital patient care across national health systems → 40% better outcomes, 80% less admin work

  • Raised a $30M Series A from top-tier investors

  • Built a team of 40+ AI experts from Tesla, Google DeepMind, NVIDIA, and Databricks

At Brain Co., interns contribute to real production systems and see their work deployed at global scale.

About the Internship:

As an AI/ML Engineer Intern, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers and researchers to help design, build, and deploy machine learning systems that solve high-impact problems in healthcare, government, and energy.

This internship is designed for current undergraduate students (sophomores and juniors) who want hands-on experience applying modern AI techniques—especially large language models—to real-world challenges. You’ll gain exposure to the full ML lifecycle while receiving mentorship and ownership over meaningful projects.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist in designing and deploying LLM-powered applications to automate complex, real-world workflows

  • Build and improve data pipelines and support model training, evaluation, and optimization

  • Work with structured and unstructured data (e.g., text, documents, logs)

  • Help prepare models and systems for production deployment and monitoring

  • Collaborate closely with senior engineers, AI researchers, and product teams

  • Learn best practices through code reviews, design discussions, and hands-on mentorship

  • Gain exposure to customer-facing and real-world constraints, including working with public-sector institutions

You Might Be a Good Fit If You

  • Are a current undergraduate student, specifically a sophomore or junior, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field

  • Have experience programming in Python

  • Have coursework or project experience in machine learning or AI

  • Have exposure to or interest in large language models and GenAI applications (e.g., agents, RAG, reasoning workflows)

  • Have used or are eager to learn frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow

  • Have strong fundamentals in data structures and algorithms
Are curious, proactive, and excited to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment

  • Enjoy owning problems end-to-end with guidance and support

Internship Details & Benefits

  • Competitive internship compensation

  • Hands-on mentorship from experienced AI engineers and researchers

  • Opportunity to work on real production systems used globally

  • Potential return-offer consideration for future internships or full-time roles

  • Daily lunches (if onsite)

Why Intern at Brain Co.

  • Work on AI systems that have real-world impact, not toy projects

  • Learn directly from engineers and leaders with backgrounds at Tesla, DeepMind, Databricks, and more

  • Build practical experience with state-of-the-art AI and LLMs

  • Take ownership early and grow fast in a high-impact environment

  • Be part of a culture built on speed, curiosity, and responsibility

If you’re a current sophomore or junior eager to apply AI to meaningful problems at global scale, Brain Co. is a place to learn, build, and make an impact.
