About Distyl AI

Distyl is an applied AI technology company partnering with the world’s most ambitious institutions to rearchitect critical operations for the frontier of AI. Our customers include the largest companies in telecom, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, consumer goods, and global social organizations.
We research and deploy technologies that power AI-native operations — both for our partners and for Distyl itself. Our work spans research into self-constructing systems, the development of the most reliable execution of AI systems, and products that transform mission-critical workflows. As a result, Distyl's technologies affect some of the world's largest operations — from hundreds of millions of consumer interactions to tens of millions of supply chain transactions and millions of patient journeys.
Distyl is backed by leading investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Khosla Ventures, Coatue, DST Global, and the board-members of 20+ F500s. The results reflect this approach: a 100% production deployment success rate for our customers and one of the few enterprise AI companies to run a profitable business.

What We Are Looking For

As an AI Strategist, you will be the project lead for customer engagements. In collaboration with a technical lead, you’ll drive a motivated team of engineers and researchers focused on solving our customers' most critical problems. Your mission is to own business outcomes, ensure that the project team creates value for the customer, and earn customer trust. You will be responsible for the entire customer engagement from start to finish.

In a typical engagement, you will begin by understanding customer problems and desired outcomes. With this context, you will embed yourself in the complex workflows of our customers, to identify opportunities where AI can solve pain points. After scoping a meaningful project, you will lead your team to ensure that we deliver a system with high quality and model accuracy. Because we care about driving real value, your engagement doesn’t stop with delivery of the system - you are also responsible for driving user adoption and iterating to make sure this product is valuable to the end user.

This role requires a curious and analytical approach, the ability to identify valuable problems to solve, strong intuition for product development, and a deep commitment to customer success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Earn Customer Trust: Demonstrate customer empathy and be the face of Distyl, managing relationships from end-users to executive stakeholders

  • End-to-end Workflow & Outcome Ownership: Identify the most valuable problems to solve. Embed yourself in the customer's workflow to understand it better than the users themselves. Ensure high accuracy and reliability to achieve the desired outcomes. Take ownership and accountability for the success of the customer engagement

  • Leadership: You and a technical lead will be jointly responsible for leading a team to deliver results to the customer

  • Data Analysis: Navigate noisy enterprise data to identify how AI can create reliable outcomes despite real-world constraints

  • User Adoption: Onboard users to our enterprise applications and platform, ensuring they realize value

  • Product Feedback: Represent the customer's voice, surfacing pain points that drive future product improvements

Who You Are
  • Operational Experience: A proven record in managing complex projects or strategic leadership roles, with demonstrable experience in client-facing positions within AI or technology integration

  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Capable of earning customer trust and liaising effectively between clients and internal teams

  • User Empathy and Customer Focus: A deep sense of user empathy and a customer-obsessed approach, ensuring solutions are technically sound and aligned with customer needs

  • Thrive in Ambiguity: Ability to identify critical problems in complex situations, define outcomes, and create structure among competing priorities

  • AI Passion: A passion for AI and optimism about its potential to impact the world

  • Coding Experience: Proficiency in programming, scripting, or statistical packages (e.g., Python, R, Matlab, SQL)

  • Travel: Ability to travel 50%

What We Offer
  • The base salary range for this role is $150K – $250K, depending on experience, location, and level. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for meaningful equity, along with a comprehensive benefits package

  • 100% covered medical, dental, and vision for employees and dependents

  • 401(k) with additional perks (e.g., commuter benefits, in‑office lunch)

  • Access to state‑of‑the‑art models, generous usage of modern AI tools, and real‑world business problems

  • Ownership of high‑impact projects across top enterprises

  • A mission‑driven, fast‑moving culture that prizes curiosity, pragmatism, and excellence

Distyl has offices in San Francisco and New York. This role follows a hybrid collaboration model with 3+ days per week (Tuesday–Thursday) in‑office.
