Build, optimize and support node-based generative AI workflows for production. Develop custom Python nodes and tools, integrate and fine-tune models (adapters, ControlNet, LoRA), optimize inference and memory, ensure temporal consistency for image/video generation, package reusable graph templates, and provide technical support and documentation to artists and production teams.

Magnopus is looking for an AI Tech Artist to build, optimize and support the generative AI workflows used by artists on a major new project..

As a spatial design and innovation company, we work at the intersection of technology, creativity and emerging experiences. Our teams bring together artists, engineers, designers and producers to create visionary work using both established production techniques and rapidly evolving technologies.

In this role, you'll sit between creative production and emerging AI technology, turning new models, tools and techniques into reliable workflows that artists can use to create high-quality imagery and motion content.

You'll build and extend node-based generative AI workflows, develop custom Python tools and nodes, integrate and optimize models, and solve the technical challenges involved in bringing rapidly evolving AI technology into a demanding production environment.

This is a hands-on technical role with a strong understanding of creative production. You'll need to be comfortable working directly with the underlying technology while making complex workflows reliable, efficient, and accessible for artists.

Contract

This is an initial fixed-term project hire through the end of September 2026, with an anticipated extension through February 2027, subject to project requirements.

Location

This role requires working onsite at our Downtown Los Angeles studio five days per week. The project is highly collaborative and fast-moving, with the team working closely together in person throughout production.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, document and maintain complex node-based generative AI workflows for production use.
  • Develop custom Python scripts and nodes to extend graph functionality, integrate external APIs and streamline asset-generation workflows.
  • Evaluate emerging generative AI models, research techniques and integrate relevant developments into production workflows.
  • Build and optimize image, video and multimodal generation workflows, with a focus on visual quality, temporal consistency and motion fidelity.
  • Configure and optimize models for memory efficiency, inference speed and reliable execution across production environments.
  • Build and maintain workflows using conditioning, adapter and fine-tuning techniques to support character, composition and stylistic consistency.
  • Set up and maintain workflows for training and deploying adapters and other project-specific model customizations.
  • Implement accelerated inference and multimodal editing approaches that enable artists to iterate quickly.
  • Package complex technical workflows into clear, reusable graph templates and tools for creative teams.
  • Troubleshoot issues across models, nodes, integrations and production workflows.
  • Work closely with artists and production teams to understand creative challenges and develop practical technical solutions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to artists using the workflows you build, and document solutions to support effective use across the team.

What will help you succeed in this role

  • Advanced experience building, extending and troubleshooting node-based generative AI workflows, such as ComfyUI or equivalent graph-based frameworks.
  • Strong Python development skills, including experience developing custom nodes, tools and integrations for generative AI workflows.
  • Deep technical understanding of current generative image and video models, multimodal workflows and the techniques used to control and optimize their output.
  • Hands-on experience with conditioning and adapter technologies such as ControlNet, IP-Adapter and LoRA, including training, fine-tuning models, and deploying adapters for production use.
  • Experience optimizing AI workflows for memory usage, inference speed, model compatibility and reliable execution.
  • Strong understanding of generative AI video workflows, including the technical challenges involved in temporal consistency, motion control and high-quality output.
  • Experience turning emerging models, research or experimental technology into practical production workflows.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose issues across complex models, nodes and graph setups.
  • Experience supporting creative production workflows and an understanding of how technical tools need to work for artists in practice.
  • The ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with both creative and technical colleagues.
  • A portfolio, code repository or other examples demonstrating relevant custom node development, graph architectures, model customisation or generative AI workflow development.

Even better if you also have

  • Experience supporting film, VFX, animation, AAA games or another high-end creative production environment.
  • Experience working with GPU/server environments supporting generative AI production workflows.

Think you could be a great fit?

If you have strong technical experience building and optimizing generative AI workflows, hands-on expertise with node-based tools and Python development, and believe you could make an immediate impact on the project, we'd love to hear from you.
