About SewerAI Corporation

SewerAI is transforming underground infrastructure management through AI-powered inspection and risk analysis. Our platform helps contractors, engineering firms, and utilities unlock valuable insights from sewer inspection data—turning hours of manual video review into actionable intelligence in minutes. After doubling our customer base over the past year, we’re now entering an exciting phase of accelerated growth.

We’re a venture-backed startup operating in one of the most critical, yet least glamorous, corners of infrastructure. Our work touches public health, environmental safety, and the day-to-day functioning of cities. We sit on an enormous trove of complex visual data—and the opportunity to turn that raw information into intelligence that transforms decision-making.

We’re looking for an AI leader to define and execute our machine learning strategy from the ground up.

This is a blank canvas: you’ll set the research agenda, decide which technical bets to place, and build a small, highly capable team. Your work will center on designing and delivering computer vision systems that can interpret real-world visual data at scale, with the rigor to ensure they work outside the lab.

Your Mission

• Lead & Inspire: Set the AI vision, communicate it clearly, and rally the team behind it.

• Curate Excellence: Build a gold-standard, meticulously labeled dataset as the foundation for breakthrough models.

• Research with Taste: Focus on the right problems and the right approaches, balancing ambition with feasibility.

• Deliver at Scale: Build robust pipelines and deploy models that create measurable impact in the real world.

• Elevate Standards: Establish best practices for experimentation, data handling, and evaluation.

What You Bring

• Proven track record of leading AI/ML projects from concept to production.

• Strong background in computer vision, especially with large or complex datasets.

• Fluency in modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.) and deployment practices.

• Exceptional judgment in identifying high-impact research directions.

• Comfort working in an early-stage, resource-constrained environment where speed and quality both matter.

Why This Role

• Huge, underserved market with real-world consequences.

• True ownership over the AI direction and execution.

• A hybrid role in Walnut Creek, CA for close collaboration with leadership (preferred but open to remote)

• The rare chance to apply cutting-edge computer vision in a space where no one else is close.

If you’re equal parts strategist and builder, with the curiosity to explore and the discipline to deliver, we want to hear from you.

Team & Culture

Join a team that values technical excellence, collaborative problem-solving, and continuous learning. We use modern development practices including comprehensive testing (Playwright E2E, Jest unit tests), code reviews, and automated deployment pipelines.
