About AIUC

Our mission is to underwrite superintelligence. We red-team, certify, and insure agents, e.g., Harvey, ElevenLabs, UiPath, Fin. Soon, agents will take on critical work in hospitals, banks and governments. This could create abundance - or go terribly wrong. History teaches us that standards and insurance are capitalism’s best tools for making risk legible and shaping incentives. We’ve built the gold standard for agent security & reliability, AIUC-1, with 250 + CISOs from the Fortune 1000. Our team comes from Anthropic, McKinsey, METR, Perplexity, etc. We've raised $55m from investors like Ribbit, First Harmonic and Nat Friedman. Read more here, here, and here.

The Role

AI agents are being deployed into the economy faster than anyone has figured out how to hold them accountable. To unlock safe & secure adoption of agents in critical workflows, organizations need a way to validate what agents to trust. We are creating AIUC-1 to fill that gap, becoming the trustmark for AI agents.

You'll sit at the center of AIUC-1, working with the organization and the AIUC-1 Consortium of 250+ Fortune 1000 leaders to decide what the standard says and why. When an agent fails publicly, you're the person who reads the incident report before anyone else at AIUC, has a sharp point of view within 24 hours, and decides what it means for our controls. When a new taxonomy of harm or a new regulatory framework lands, you're the one who translates it into a control enterprises can implement, and auditors can test.

This is a collaborative and high-agency role. There's no playbook for "standards lead for AI agents." You’ll work with colleagues to determine what matters most and execute through rigorous research, conversations with experts, and putting pen to paper.

In this role, you will:

  • Own the AIUC-1 standard update process: running the deep research and continuous incident monitoring that tells us when the standard needs to move, collaborating with the AIUC-1 Consortium, and drafting the quarterly updates

  • Drive news and analyst commentary: publishing AIUC's take within 24 hours of major AI incidents, and making sure our own team understands what happened and why it matters before anyone asks

  • Lead technical content development for our blog and other channels — turning research and incident analysis into writing that's credible with security leaders, auditors, and customers alike

  • Track the regulatory and threat landscape (new laws, frameworks, red-team findings, published exploits) and translate it into concrete, testable control language

  • Build partnerships with organizations like the CSA, the OWASP community, and CRI, to strengthen the ecosystem around AIUC-1 and drive standard adoption

What we're looking for
  • 3-8 years of experience in global risk & compliance, auditing, or AI research

  • Excellent writing: you can turn a complex incident or research finding into something clear, fast, and credible enough to publish under time pressure

  • Comfort with technical material, with working fluency in at least one of security/compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO, NIST), audit methodology, or AI safety/research

  • Genuine curiosity about standards and AI failure modes; you read incident reports and research papers out of real interest, and the chance to shape what AIUC-1 says is what draws you to the role

  • Comfort operating with speed and ambiguity; excitement to take action and develop a perspective without being explicitly directed

  • Judgment enterprises and auditors will trust; you can hold your own with CISOs, General Counsels, and technical researchers when soliciting input

  • Operational excellence: you can manage a great process involving 250+ consortium members, external partners, and AIUC team members

Nice to have
  • Experience in a high-pace environment like consulting or a startup, followed by a deliberate move into AI safety or governance

  • Experience writing or applying standards, not just reading them

Compensation & Perks
  • Competitive annual salary

  • Equity (significant part of total compensation)

  • Health, dental and vision insurance for you and your dependents

  • Visa sponsorship and relocation stipend to bring you to SF, if needed

  • Daily meals
