BitPay is seeking an AML Analyst, Transaction Monitoring to join our Compliance and Risk team. In this role, you'll play a key part in ensuring ongoing compliance through transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and support of regulatory and law enforcement inquiries. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor transactions and account activity to identify unusual patterns and potential money laundering risks
- Conduct sanctions screening and support related investigations
- Review merchant activity to ensure alignment with internal policies and regulatory expectations
- Respond to subpoenas and requests from law enforcement and regulatory agencies
- Assist with internal investigations and collaborate with legal and compliance teams as needed
- Draft clear and comprehensive reports, including documentation of suspicious activity and investigative outcomes
- Maintain and update compliance policies and procedures, particularly those relating to suspicious activity monitoring, sanctions enforcement, and regulatory reporting
- Support internal audits and testing functions related to AML compliance
- Provide guidance to internal teams on appropriate action related to high-risk behavior or accounts
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including senior leadership, on compliance issues and risk exposure
- Participate in cross-functional projects to improve and strengthen the company’s compliance framework
- Other duties as assigned
- 3+ years of experience in an AML compliance role, preferably in the crypto industry
- Blockchain tracing/analytics experience or Blockchain Analytic certifications is a plus
- Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Self-motivated with the ability to adapt and manage priorities in a dynamic environment
- Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset and positive attitude
- ACAMS or similar AML certifications is preferred
- Pre-law coursework or relevant experience is a plus
