Job Overview:

The Applications Engineer Manager position delivers technical expertise for Performance Digital SOC device testing solution implementation to customers based on Advantest V93000 products and services. It provides support for both pre-sales and post-sales assessment of customer needs as well as quick implementation/execution of the solution. You'll work on cutting-edge technology, working side by side with our customers in close collaboration with R&D and marketing in a cross-functional, international environment. This is an ideal position for a software or electrical engineer with a strong test engineering background, requiring both in depth knowledge of the V93000 system, as well as strong software skills for writing test programs and tooling to meet customer needs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Technical Direction
    • Lead and mentor a team of applications engineers supporting Advantest V93000 Semiconductor Test Systems.
    • Provide strategic and hands-on technical guidance across hardware design, software test libraries, and system integration.
    • Create and manage project plans for complex engineering engagements, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Customer Engagement & Solution Delivery
    • Serve as the technical lead for key customer accounts, particularly in High Performance Computing and AI sectors.
    • Collaborate with customers to analyze requirements, demonstrate features, conduct benchmarks, and implement tailored solutions.
    • Deliver customer training and consulting services, including pre-sales support and post-sales implementation.
  • System Integration & Product Validation
    • Ensure Advantest products and services are successfully integrated into customer environments at the system/solution level.
    • Validate product functionality against specifications and oversee test interface board (load board) design and verification.
  • Technical Expertise & Innovation
    • Analyze complex IC test requirements, offering expertise in performance optimization, test program development, and implementation strategies.
    • Focus on digital, mixed-signal, and RF technologies to solve engineering challenges and deliver innovative solutions.
    • Represent customer needs to internal teams and influence product development based on field insights.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration & Influence
    • Coordinate with R&D, marketing, and global teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
    • Identify and manage resources required for solution delivery, tracking commitments and outcomes.
    • Stay current with emerging technologies and share insights across the organization to foster continuous improvement.
  • Customer Advocacy & Relationship Building
    • Build deep technical relationships with customers, becoming a trusted advisor and influencing their decision-making processes.
    • Ensure customer satisfaction through proactive communication, technical excellence, and consistent delivery of value.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in application development or test engineering within the ATE industry, with a focus on Performance Digital.
  • Proven experience with Advantest V93000 ATE systems, including test program development using SmarTest 8 or SmarTest 7. SmarTest8 experiences is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Test Method coding, debugging, and optimization.
  • Strong understanding of structural and functional test methodologies.
  • Experience in signal integrity design, simulation, and measurement.
  • Familiarity with ATE test interface board (load board) design and verification for digital applications. High speed IO experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in LINUX, JAVA, or C++.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across hardware and software domains.
  • Solid understanding of the semiconductor industry, particularly in High Performance Computing and AI sectors.
  • Awareness of market trends and emerging technologies relevant to digital and mixed-signal testing.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to guide engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment with a positive, proactive attitude.
