Position Overview

As the Assistant Controller, you will oversee the company’s full accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and scalability across all financial processes. You will manage the accounting team, strengthen financial controls, and optimize systems to support a high-growth, global business. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and forward-thinking accounting leader with experience in cost/manufacturing accounting, audits, consolidated financial reporting, and operating in multi-jurisdictional environments.

You will bring rigor, structure, and strategic insight to a rapidly expanding organization, partnering closely with FP&A, Operations, and cross-functional leaders to drive financial transparency, operational efficiency, and global scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Leadership & Operations

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial close processes across multiple entities and international jurisdictions.
  • Oversee general ledger integrity, account reconciliations, and company-wide adherence to US GAAP and internal policies.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and management reporting packages; monitor actuals versus budget and investigate significant variances.

Cost & Manufacturing Accounting

  • Oversee all cost accounting processes, including standard cost development, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variances. Work closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Logistics, Engineering and Finance regarding BOM reviews and production margin analysis.
  • Partner closely with our Cost Accountant and Operations to provide financial insight into cost drivers, efficiency initiatives, and product-level profitability.

Financial Controls, Audit & Compliance

  • Strengthen internal control frameworks and ensure consistent compliance across business units and international entities.
  • Lead preparation for external audits, act as a key liaison with auditors, and implement recommendations to improve financial accuracy and efficiency.
  • Work with contractors to support tax and regulatory filings in multiple jurisdictions, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Support Sales and external specialist on contract sales tax considerations, reporting, filling and remittance.

Systems, Processes & Automation

  • Oversee accounting system data integrity with internal systems management resource. Work to be the SME or primary owner of NetSuite supporting 3rd party implementation consultants and internal resources on configuration, workflows, and optimization.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and implement scalable, technology-enabled solutions- specifically leveraging AI where possible.
  • Champion process improvement initiatives that enhance accuracy, visibility, and operational efficiency across Accounting & Finance.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with FP&A, Operations, Engineering, and Commercial teams to ensure financial clarity, cross-functional alignment, and seamless flow of financial data.
  • Support strategic initiatives, including global expansion, system enhancements and integrations, utilization and headcount management, and future M&A integration.

Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience in cost or manufacturing accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, consolidated financial reporting, and multi-entity accounting.
  • Experience operating in international or multi-jurisdictional environments.
  • Prior experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system.
  • Previous audit experience (public accounting or internal audit function).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing accounting teams.

Preferred

  • Active or inactive CPA credential.
  • Experience in solar, renewable energy, manufacturing, hardware, or high-growth scale-up environments.
  • Background managing financial complexity associated with multi-entity structures, intercompany transactions, or global expansion.
  • Strong systems orientation, with experience implementing or optimizing accounting systems and automation tools.

Compensation And Benefits

This role offers a base salary of $120,000 – $150,000 (DOE)

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each posted range, individual pay is determined (and may be greater or higher), dependent on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
