This is a remote position.

Our client is looking for a skilled Assistant Controller to join their dynamic finance team. Our client is a fast-growing leader in the premium quick-service restaurant industry, renowned for their chef-driven menu and exceptional guest experience. They have achieved impressive growth, expanding their company-owned locations and recently launching a nationwide franchise program.

Responsibilities
  • Mentor and guide staff and senior-level teammates, fostering their professional growth.

  • Implement and maintain thorough workflow understanding to ensure all documents are consistently audit-ready across all locations.

  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP standards and prepare audit-ready financial worksheets.

  • Perform journal entries related to multi-location allocations.

  • Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts with precision.

  • Analyze data across systems and ensure seamless integration with the ERP.

  • Work independently while maintaining accuracy and proactively seeking clarification when needed.

  • Bridge operational data (sales, covers, labor hours, inventory, food costs) with the financial system to ensure correct flow into financial reports.


Requirements
  • Ability to train and develop junior team members.

  • Proven ability to manage, train, and develop junior team members with a teaching approach, using assertive and welcoming communication skills.

  • Solid understanding of end-to-end accounting workflows and a proactive, organized approach to maintain audit-ready precision.

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting.

  • Experience with multi-location accounting and allocations.

  • Proficiency in balance sheet reconciliations and analysis.

  • Comfortable working with ERP systems and cross-platform data.

  • Self-motivated with a keen eye for detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to integrate operational metrics with financial reporting systems.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Proven experience leading and developing accounting teams.

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.

  • Experience in restaurant, retail, or multi-unit businesses.

  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software.
